Coronavirus (2022) thread

Interesting STAT piece on the challenges US doctors are facing in deciding who should receive the antiviral Paxlovid, of which there is limited and will be dwindling supply. Do you prescribe to those who have already been vaccinated but remain vulnerable, or do you prescribe to the growing numbers of unvaccinated who present so as to prevent them deteriorating and clogging the system further. Rarely such a binary choice, I appreciate, but it’s indicative of the issues physicians will face in the coming weeks/months.

You're like a Japanese soldier someone will release you in 2041. Or was that the Vietnamese?
It was a Japanese soldier fighting in Indonesia I think. Didn’t realise for years the war had ended and was camped out in the mountains.

Imagine the shock when he realises Japan and the US quickly became best buds.

indeed and likely a good thing, but I think right now, the NHS could do without every single person getting it at the same time
True. But it is so infectious that only 100% lockdown would slow it down, and then not by much as you'd catch it doing the food shopping.
