Coronavirus (2022) thread

Sturgeon has handled the pandemic competently and is effective IMHO, but she is a Poundland Jacinda Ardern. The U.K. Government shook the magic money tree and helped to buy and share the vaccines designed by brilliant scientists. That allows most of us to have a decent quality of life, even if Downing Street take the piss.

The road ahead looks clearer. If people continue to take their 2 jabs and booster, respect the jobs being done by health and social care workers, and help out friends and family. We should rebound by the Spring.

Yawn.
Yes but I vary it up a bit and can be found being a **** in a variety of different threads. One can see why people may think you’ll miss the pandemic once it’s gone as it’s the only subject you seem to care enough about posting on.

I have a lot of sympathy to this guy, crippling needle phobia resulting in being unvaccinated, He died last week, while I didn't know him directly ( I knew him on a different forum online ) I know a lot of people who did know him personally and every single person only has good things to say abut him. was genuinely a great bloke.

Get Vaccinated. If you have a needle phobia, And I know someone who does, there is help available to try to get past it as much as is possible, Talk to your Dr for help.

RIP.

I just can’t understand how someone can be so scared of something (a small prick - excuse the pun) that they would rather die. It makes no sense to me at all.

Think it’s difficult to understand stand phobias if you haven’t got one tbh, I haven’t got any as far as I know but I’m sure it’s real in some peoples heads.

Phobia's by there very definition are irrational.

"an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something"

I know someone that once slept in a bath as they spotted a spider in the bedroom.

I've got a needle phobia, and a general phobia of medical settings. I had a panic attack in the waiting room when having my first jab..fucking awful but it's just got to be done hasn't it.

My rationale was being scared shitless for 30 mins at a vaccine centre is better than the possibility of being actually stuck in a hospital for weeks/months with covid when unvaccinated..

There was a guy on the Novavax trial with me who had a needle phobia, yet had signed up. At our first appointment, October 2020, he fainted at the communal briefing session, just at the mention of it. I’ve no idea if he continued on the trial as he was whisked off for first aid.

I have every sympathy. My sons girlfriend has a needle phobia, but has had 2 jabs. My son brought her here after her 2nd and she was still ashen and shaking. And I was reassuring her, saying ‘that’s it now. You won’t need to go again’. What did I know!!

Phobias are weird aren't they.

I had to do some first aid training for work a few months ago and nearly passed out there too! The woman running it had to ask if I was ok as I had gone a bit pale. I can laugh at it now but on the day I was not having a good time.
