Phobia's by there very definition are irrational.

"an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something"

I know someone that once slept in a bath as they spotted a spider in the bedroom.
But surely the fear of death trumps anything?

That assumes the person is thinking rationally. I remember reading on the news, several years ago, about a boy who was so frightened of dogs, that he ran off a cliff when one chased him whilst on holiday. I’m fortunate that I don’t suffer phobias, so like you, I can’t fully understand.

Hahaha I’m sorry but this tickled me as I usually find spiders in the bath, if anywhere. Worthy of a comedy sketch if one had appeared!

Yeah, very true.

I've got a needle phobia, and a general phobia of medical settings. I had a panic attack in the waiting room when having my first jab..fucking awful but it's just got to be done hasn't it.

My rationale was being scared shitless for 30 mins at a vaccine centre is better than the possibility of being actually stuck in a hospital for weeks/months with covid when unvaccinated..
To be fair he could have had it worse than you.

I don’t like needles at all, I felt sick during the whole thing when I got my jabs although got a bit more used to it after the first.

It’s a sad story and I just wish he’d got help to try and sort his phobia out enough to take the jabs.

Oh absolutely.

Am not trying to start a 'who's got the biggest phobia' pissing contest, was just trying to say these things are more common than people think. Same with other anxieties, we've been conditioned to keep these things to ourselves but thankfully people are a lot more open nowadays.
