Coronavirus (2022) thread

England patients fall for the second day running. To 16,881 - first time two falls on the run in the week since Omicron took hold

Ventilators down again too to a new low in many weeks of 672.

Admissions (Monday) are down week to week again and both London and North West both significantly down on these week to week.

These things show the cases fall is not artificial or test related. It is translating into patients and those needing ventilation and it will in a week or two translate into lower death numbers too.

Not over yet but we are heading into better times in the middle of January and we would have all taken that a month ago when Omicron was still possibly going to be rather bad news.

I browse. Its still a thing. But i foresee a day its just you and one or two others rattling round.
I really look forward to that. The sooner the better. Then I can get back to writing my next book not 10,000 posts on here. However rubbish my 53rd book proves it will be such a relief that it is even possible to plan around doing this not watching numbers daily.

On the correlation of restrictions to prevalence.

Correlation is not causation, of course.

You may be right.

But numbers are down a lot in the other nations this week too. Not just England.

It was 44,515 for the 3 home nations last Wednesday and was 13,414 today.

It just looks like to me with Omicron all the dominoes topple fast and soon none are left.

The instinct is to stop it to protect health care but it is all but impossible to stop and getting it over asap might have merit.

We may be casual about or decry our NHS and the stress it faces but it is in times like this a national health care for all shows its value and may be the difference in why we seem to be riding this wave better than many where joining the dots is harder to do than under one unified system.

That day is close I think. But I mostly do this out of curiosity and want to see it to the end.

Not really qualified to write a book about the pandemic. But might. Though not the next one. have already been working on that.

As for City, have done since Bert Trautmann came in our house once many moons ago - apart from when I had to pretend to like Liverpool as my other half was a big fan (though his brother was a City fan and his sister an Everton fan!). And as I was employed by Radio City at the time and my boss was Gerry Marsden I kind of had to look a bit enthusiastic. Being Radio City in Liverpool always made me smile, though!
