England patients fall for the second day running. To 16,881 - first time two falls on the run in the week since Omicron took hold

Ventilators down again too to a new low in many weeks of 672.

Admissions (Monday) are down week to week again and both London and North West both significantly down on these week to week.

These things show the cases fall is not artificial or test related. It is translating into patients and those needing ventilation and it will in a week or two translate into lower death numbers too.

Not over yet but we are heading into better times in the middle of January and we would have all taken that a month ago when Omicron was still possibly going to be rather bad news.

I browse. Its still a thing. But i foresee a day its just you and one or two others rattling round.
I really look forward to that. The sooner the better. Then I can get back to writing my next book not 10,000 posts on here. However rubbish my 53rd book proves it will be such a relief that it is even possible to plan around doing this not watching numbers daily.

You may be right.

But numbers are down a lot in the other nations this week too. Not just England.

It was 44,515 for the 3 home nations last Wednesday and was 13,414 today.

It just looks like to me with Omicron all the dominoes topple fast and soon none are left.

The instinct is to stop it to protect health care but it is all but impossible to stop and getting it over asap might have merit.

We may be casual about or decry our NHS and the stress it faces but it is in times like this a national health care for all shows its value and may be the difference in why we seem to be riding this wave better than many where joining the dots is harder to do than under one unified system.

That day is close I think. But I mostly do this out of curiosity and want to see it to the end.

Not really qualified to write a book about the pandemic. But might. Though not the next one. have already been working on that.

As for City, have done since Bert Trautmann came in our house once many moons ago - apart from when I had to pretend to like Liverpool as my other half was a big fan (though his brother was a City fan and his sister an Everton fan!). And as I was employed by Radio City at the time and my boss was Gerry Marsden I kind of had to look a bit enthusiastic. Being Radio City in Liverpool always made me smile, though!

My theory is because of how contagious Omicron is and the amount of people in hospital that have it. There’s so many in hospital dying of other things with omicron as a side note, that the Covid test is adding these to the statistics. Of course people are also dying of it but I think it’s the testing that’s driving these stats up, over the severity of omicron.

Once a level of immunity happens in the public and hospitals they’ll start to fall.
Those who are admitted to hospital with heart attacks, strokes, accidents etc who are likely to die are lkely to catch Covid in hospital or already have it so the effect on the Covid death total will be massive.

I think a lot of us would like to know who you actually are!!

as i say, its all been appreciated, youve dealt in facts without forcing an opinion. In the end i guess i needed to move on so avoided your figures but thats not a sleight on you one bit.
But where is the end? Maybe as the few remaining restrictions are lifted again that would be a good time?

ps i wasnt questioning your support of City ;)

Think we need a big reveal then lock the threads and ban any more

My guess of Maeve Binchy fell flat on its arse as she's been dead for about 10 years...

There is nothing to reveal. You genuinely will never have heard of me. I have hardly heard of me.

You are building up expectations that are never going to be met. I know you might think I am being modest. But I am not. I just wrote a few books over a lot of years! Not novels. Not well known ones. And made a few TV and radio documentaries. And who recalls the name of the writer of these. I usually don't.

When I do sign off I might let my nephew tell anyone who really cares (it is truly not at all interesting I promise) He posts on here I think.

As long as you are not Bill Oddie you'll do for me ;)
