Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I guess we'll have to wait and see what will happen on the first proper round of games. On Saturday 20th June as to whether fans turn up outside grounds of not. I am certain that that is going to happen. The question is will it be reported by the media, and how much will they(the media) make of it.

I was watching Danish football yesterday, one game had fans sat in cars in the club car park another had a video wall on the side of the pitch with feeds of fans sitting at home watching the game.... imagine the fun you could have with a feed of your lounge going live to the nation.

Using the crowd noise on television for the restarted Rugby League in Australia worked brilliantly. The noise rose and fell in accordance with what was happening on the field and was very realistic. there was a guy in the studio in charge of the noise and he did a great job and made the viewing experience so much better than just a silent stadium. If the PL and FA can do as good a job, it will make a real difference.
Fantastic, I'll tune in

We have the date for the first game, 17 June, but anyone any idea on any of the other dates? We have to shoe horn an FA Cup tie as well.

I hope piped in crowd noise has improved since c2004 when we were subjected to it v Bolton at the home. That was my most embarrassing moment as a City fan. Yes, more embarrassing than the Pollock OG and Stockport defeats.

I see that in Germany cardboard cutouts of Hitler and Shipman have appeared in Bundesliga "crowds" Which celebrity would you put in your seat at the Etihad? Think I'd go Jimmy Ssville

Vuoso and Berti

Friendlies that players have to drive to in their own cars in the kit they play in now?

Honestly any self respecting player at the top level in world football agreeing to any of this utter shite should hang their heads, as too should the PFA.

Didn’t take them long for the media probably backed by certain clubs to start the narrative of fans can go back into the grounds but only a certain % say day 20k are allowed at Wembley so how those fans getting there they stopping at service how they going to que up to get in? They only going to allow the under 30 to have tickets because the risk to them is slim to naught.

That’ll be Club Wembley and corporate no doubt !

All this talk of morale is interesting. I think on balance football resuming will raise morale.

Does the prospect of the PL resuming raise my morale, no not a bit but then we’ve got very little interest in that - won’t win the league, pretty sure of top 4. Does the prospect of FA Cup resuming raise my morale, hell yeah - I can’t wait to see if we can win another trophy

So if that selfish thought process extends to the viewing public at large then any games that have something riding on them will raise morale. It’s always good to have something entertaining to look forward to and as a sports fan I was happier on those days when the ufc came back and when Dortmund played Bayern.

Got to say not seeing or hearing most of those fucking Dipper infested pundits for a few months has done wonders for my mental health ! Not looking forward to hearing Carragher and McPointy again.

Was at the swamp many many years ago ( yes I know ) free tickets for an FA cup games think it was Q P R they were playing crowd recordings over the pa system 30 min before kickoff I couldn't stop laughing my rag mate wasn't happy
Not sure what's worse: you went to watch United or the fact you got there 30mins before kick-off. Were you hoping to get some "free" autographs?
