Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I wish I could get excited about this but I just find the whole thing ludicrous.
Football without fans just feels soulless and not something we should be getting giddy about. Some of the cringeworthy shite they've announced like music at substitutions, players celebration cams (wtf?), compounds the feeling that this isn't for me.

I've got something on tonight so will miss the first half anyway, will tune in for the second half in the same way I'd maybe get the second half of a pre season friendly in the US and with about the same degree of interest unfortunately.
Just listening to 5Live now and they've got Hugh bloody Ferris desperately trying to drum up enthusiasm for the 'festival' nature of this. Do fuck off.

I just can't get excited about this game at all. I just wish that last nights weather would have hit tonight. I love city but may give the game a total miss.got

As I am not bothered at all about this or any other city game for the rest off this season

I’m a really big blue but can’t say I’m sure about this restart

I my be a Bigger Blue than you but how would I know ? does it depend on how much you are arsed about the re-start ?

To be honest if I knew it was a test I would have revised during the lockdown we are still in - some of us- not footballers.

There's no evidence that footballers are putting themselves at risk for your entertainment, not in any meaningful way anyway.

My feeling is the other way around. I'll certainly watch the games but I don't feel the same hunger for it because as fans we're not involved and City's Premier League season has been empty for a while.

I have read a lot of your replies which I disagreed with or did not understand, TBF you have summed it up there perfectly. I have always been Hate Football Love City and it is that connection that will be missing that will really be felt tonight.

When have you seen players play competitive matches after three months off and then only three weeks of pre-season? Answer: you haven’t because normally no-one would be that bloody stupid. The injury risk is there and it is greater than it would be if they had a proper six weeks, like they would after only four or five weeks off in a normal summer.

They haven't had 3 months off though. Alderweireld was on talksport last week discussing this exact thing. He said people think we have had a 3 month break when the reality is they had 3 days off and then top of the range training equipment was delivered to them and they have had a full training program since. He emphasized the point that this was nothing like a pre season. That is coming straight from one of the people who will be playing so you cannot argue with that.

Watched about 10 minutes of a Bundesliga game, it was like a training game without fans.
I'll be glad just to get the season over with as even winning one of the cups will be 'meh' without our fans being there

Bundersliga resembles a training game with fans most of the time.

I doubt I will be arsed even doing battle with the internet looking for a dodgy stream, Certainly would not pay for it.

Not sure why but until its actually back to normal, fans in grounds, people watching in pubs I really have no interest at all. Not sure it would be any different if we were in with a shout of winning the league or at least if the fucking retards were not winning it. Infact given I would gladly have sacrificed the title to that shower of shit in return for getting the CL won and on the roll of honour, and I still dont feel it even though we have a decent chance of doing just that.

No doubt I will keep up with the score but thats about it. Not feeling it at all sadly.
