Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I hope we get the same info next week. I have colleagues totally stressed out at being stuck in an overcrowded classroom with 30+ adolescents who have no concept of personal hygiene.
Every hour is like a trip to dipperpool.

This is the problem: I can wash my hands all I like but my daughter is mixing with 30 other kids and my wife is teaching 30 kids. (5 and 6 years old). I am visiting my elderly and in poor health mum to take her food and taking all the precautions I can but effectively I am coming into contact with 60 people a day just from the above. My mum is telling me about wills and instructions today and my daughter is crying because she thinks her gran and grandad are both going to die. Based on that I really couldn’t give a fuck what they do about the football season and who they award what to. It just all seems so trivial given the situation.

I'm in education at a senior level. Trust level. Asking teachers to guard symptomless, possibly infected children. Absurd.

LAST

That's a fair point. Not only may we have seen David's last game in a City Shirt but also Leroy too. Most likely the greatest City team we have ever seen could be dismantling already. Ah well, it was great while it lasted.
And at least it did last. We got to see it!

If Liverpool are somehow awarded the title you have to say it would seem like a hollow victory for their supporters.

I’d be gutted if any of our title winning seasons had ended without us being able to celebrate them by being there or at least watching the game that clinched it.

It was never going to be an Aguero moment or even going to the last game but what a shit way to win it.

Online Liverpool supporters are bizarre but the ones I know personally are decent people. Sometimes you have to put club rivalry aside and I’d gladly swap a Liverpool title win for no Coronavirus pandemic.
When we had that huge lead and won the game with games to spare, we had pitch invasions and piss ups galore for weeks! It was stupendous

If, as looks likely, the season cannot be completed during time allotted then there should be no question that the season should be scrapped. You cannot just pick up where we left off after a significant time has elapsed. There would be no sporting integrity in doing this. Squads will not be the same for one thing and possibly more clubs will have folded due to loss of revenue with many of them operating on a hand-to-mouth basis as it is. If it means we lose out on a charity shield and League Cup then so be it. There's more important things than football.
