Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Eventually there will be a vote by the premier league no individual at fa premier headquarters should have a say!

14 clubs would push void through and no abstains should be allowed just to get the desired vote through like with reading regarding ffp.

I don't remember dipper fans shedding tears when they got English clubs banned from Europe for 5 years, so why should anyone give a fuck about them if they can't get the title now. Utterly despicable club, fans and management.
i can only agree mate, the virus is becoming widespread and we have to listen to the vile ****s on these phone up shows, football is finished until the world gets better , these thick scouse idiots need to get that into their heads, thousands if not millions could dye and the only thing in their sad lives is the title

Well what a few days it's been. The world has gone fucking mad
If City were in LiVARpools position and vice versa, the season would have be called off already and the resumption date would be scheduled for September,as if the season hadn't started.
Drove to Cardiff on Friday for the Wales v Scotland rugby international. Listened to Talkshite all the way down. At 12.30 hrs Prem League announces suspension, Rugby expert interviewed and the Rugby was still on and the punters were merrily spunking their money and getting pissed at Cheltenham. By 2.30pm , the court of public opinion, the media etc force the hand of the WRFU and 30 Scots and and fair few Welsh are now stuck in Cardiff for a weekend without a match. Well it was the best weekend i've had for a long time with mates i'd not seen for a good number of years. We were all over 60 and carrying a fair few scars from our life so far. 30 odd pints later i'm back home but i've mixed with Scots , Italians, ( 30 walked into the pub we were in) Swedish guys. All thought the match should have been played. All i have spoken to thought the media hype was scaring people out of their wits. We all washed hands but enjoyed the weekend.
Been to Aldi today for some normal shopping and was in the shop when the toilet rolls and kitchen rolls were rolled onto the shop floor. What a fucking ruck. I stood and watched as people tried to by pass the 1 packet rule. It was busier than Christmas.
I've got friends that have had operations cancelled, holidays cancelled, stranded abroad bla bla bla . The world has stopped and my pension pot is disappearing fast.
Personally i think the government are following the best advice they can get. Dickheads are a plenty on the TV,twitter, FB . With no vaccine the only way we will get through this is by isloating in a control manner, having a majority of people catch the virus and survive and thereby starving the virus of new targets. Isolating when advised or when symptoms present themselves, washing hands and restricting movements if possible is the only thing we can do. I've got several of my family - 90 year olds, A son with asthma and a young grandson, a daughter that is a clinical scientist in Exeter Hospital and a her partner in Cardiff laboratories, and my missus is 4 years clear from cancer, so i've got a lot to worry about . The vast majority of us will survive this, many more than if it had been your average flu winter, currently 40,000 at least have had it and survived, others will have had it, survived and not even realised. When its over, what sort of world will we have left and what will we have become.

The only way that football could continue on the 3rd April is if clubs agree to play all games behind closed doors. This could see a lot of the smaller clubs go to the wall. There would be very few clubs left in the whole country, if that is what the FA/Premier League decide to do. I would include a few clubs in the Premier League like Brighton and Bournemouth

That is the main reason why I cannot see football being played behind closed doors. The country as a whole has to come to terms with this virus, which will be around for at least 6/12 months according to some experts and maybe even longer than the 12 months.

waspish, there should be none of this 14 clubs agree majority rules there are 20 clubs in the Premier League so therefore if 11 clubs agree to cancel this season then that should stand. Who is to say that some of the bigger clubs will try to force the smaller clubs not to agree to this cancellation of the league for this season, by offering them some more money by a bigger take off the pot at the end of the season.

Re your last sentence....there's a lot of people not even thought about how the world will change.

Lyon's president has suggested all remaining games are abandoned and the final positions for this season to be determined by historic finishing coefficient over the last 5 years.

Unbelievable. Is he touting for a job at Uefa?

And yes i reslize that woyld hugely favour us, but it is still pretty mental. Null and void, for all unfinished competitions. Can't honestly see anything fairer.
