Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Players are entitled to help out if they want to much the same I am allowed to help out if i want or don't want to, clubs shouldn't be so fucking badly run they need to stop other peoples wages to pay others.

Why should Kane be putting his hand in his pocket when Levy has just banked 7m, ultimately the responsibility for these wages is down to him.

No one should be losing their jobs but premier league clubs should have enough money in the bank to pay their staff, if they don't then the FA might want to start investigating where all the money is going. Every club in the premier league basically makes more than all the other top clubs in Europe. If clubs aren't prepared for any sort of incident then that is down to the management, perhaps for example Newcastle should think twice about dropping 40m on players if they can't afford to pay their staff if shit hits the fan.

EDIT; It's a time for helping, not greed surely?
Yes it is, so maybe football clubs should put their hands in their pockets and pay the people they should be. They are happy to skim all the BT and Sky money from the fans and staff who work for them but wont pay their fucking wages. Its a disgrace.

Footballers dont deserve to be paid anymore than the staff but they will be because clubs cant afford the legal battle.

I suspect they do have enough money in the bank but are trying to use a loophole.

I agree. Levy’s remuneration package is obscene

Totally agree with who's responsibility it is. Nothing wrong with players being charitable though. I do hope City are first to set an example in this country and start to help those in their club who are losing their jobs.
but even if clubs owners could help and pay wages from their own fund but doesn't FFP stop them ?

yeah but your wording suggested it should fall on the players.
If there’s one things people need to learn from this mess, it’s to stop taking jobs from people and companies just because. If you took a job at Spurs and got screwed over, worse fool you because everyone knows what Levy is.
I’ve had several chances to leave my job for bigger paying jobs but remained where I am because a)I trust the owner of our company b)I have a contract that protects me and c) checked the history of company owners who approached me.
Literally 99% of workers out there would not consider any of the 3 things above and take jobs because they are there. Imagine having to put your trust in John Henry or the dildo twins right now for your job security...

Really hoping that the City players do something similar to Barca and Juve by taking a percentage salary cut for a few months. Would be fantastic PR to sit atop the moral press pyramid.

Makes no mention of the 19/20 season then, I would expect those deadlines remain?
