Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

The season is over.
The number of daily deaths coming in the next few weeks and probably for a good month after that looking at Italy.
They should make that call now!

UEFA meeting floated an August 3rd date to complete competitions in Europe. It was discussed in the meeting of 55 UEFA nations but as a potential scenario as opposed to a hard deadline with so much uncertainty over when games can resume

Other scenarios have earlier finishes, but UEFA are also planning for the season possibly not re-starting until August

The LTA have said this about Tennis "The All England Club would not want to be seen to be pushing ahead with a sporting event as the death toll continues to rise and the country remains in the grip of the pandemic."

But the FA and PL want to press on to protect the "integrity" of the game. It seems like some leaders know what leadership means.

I know that Wimbledon is in essence a fortnight event and is more difficult to find an alternate date to complete due to weather and light but that statement should be made viral to put pressure on other sports to simply follow suit and then have time to focus on the repercussions they face.

Everyone is facing change and difficulties, some moreso than others. Some will have to face repurcussions far more distressing than premier league will ever have to face including if PL were to not even exist.

They must be shitting themselves over the legal side of all this.

Clubs behaviour is bad enough now. I can only imagine what it will be like if all leagues are brought to an end and decisions need to be made on who finishes where and how much money they all get both this season and going forward.

I can see how tough a spot they are in,there is a nightmare in all options but all the bodies and the clubs need to be responsible in this situation the world is in,there was always going to come a day,with all the money in football,that the sport would eat itself

The german idea seems ok to me,not everyone is going to be happy but if they throw their toys out of the pram then they are laid open for the fans to see and it will put off everyone from going back

This was our best chance for the cl and the fa cup but that is just too bad,,there will always be another chance

This is a contact sport with real people who have families to protect,one player or coach dies because they are forced into playing will finish football

Is that August 2021 or August 2022?
