Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

The ONLY way this season could be finished off is if there's no football until March next year which is very possible but the powers will try their damnedest to drag it over the line this summer.

If football can start again around the normal time which I doubt then we should all start again.

On another point although football isn't important at the moment the dips seem to think City are driving the termination as they'd have most to lose....err FA Cup & a great place in the CL beg to differ......it really is only about them.

Imagine the scene, running out of balls at Wembley stadium because there are no ball boys to return them from the Row Z deployed by every team in this country bar City.

Even the little thought of is a major obstacle. Who the fuck is going to want to ballboy?

Eds, have you yet not come to realize that the one and only thing that both the FA AND THE PREMIER LEAGUE are interested in, is to make sure that LIVARPOOL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE NO MATTER WHAT. There can be well over 100,000 deaths A MONTH from this coronavirus, but hey we have finally made sure that LIVARPOOL HAVE WON THEIR 1STPREMIER LEAGUE TITLE.

All football supporters are more worried about their family and friends staying alive amid this coronavirus pandemic. Then whoever wins or gets relegated from their respective divisions. Well except for the boards of two football bodies, those being the FA AND THE PREMIER LEAGUE. Like I said earlier on today, the PFA NEEDS TO GET A BACKBONE. The backbone I am talking about, is that they will not be putting any footballers lives in jeopardy by playing football, while this pandemic is still largely out of control.

I for one and a lot of my friends will not be stepping inside a football stadium until this coronavirus is completely eradicated. With at least 12-18 months before they can come up with a antidote for this virus. I don't see why the FA AND THE PREMIER LEAGUE, are so obsessed with giving the PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE TO LIVARPOOL. To me it seems that they are willing to sacrifice the lives of players from the PREMIER LEAGUE ALONG WITH THEIR COACHING AND MEDICAL STAFF. JUST TO GIVE LIVARPOOL THEIR 1ST TITLE.

Does anybody disagree with what I have said. To me all those who have lost their lives matter. I for one hope that the GOVERNMENT says that there will be another 6 weeks of a total lockdown. Also that there can be no sporting activities in any stadiums until the beginning of September at the earliest. Maybe just maybe that will focus the minds of the football bodies that any chance of playing football in June can now be put on the back burner.

Quite right but I won’t hold my breath , the majority of players have stayed stum on the question of wage cuts & left it to the PFA who are are still in talks ....they’ve not got the bollocks to stand up weeks ago say this is what we’re going to do , so the chances of them refusing to play and suing the bosses is next to nil, they’ll do exactly as their told as usual .
Bad form to have a go at players imo

Juventus ..pay cuts weeks ago , Barcelona 70% wage cut weeks ago , B.Munich ...3 months with no wages so their staff get payed....our lot ...erm leave it to the PFA to sort out while we hide in our mansions .

I don't think we can blame the football world for trying to find ways to get this season finished, they HAVE to. If they are seen as just sitting back and not even exploring every possible avenue, as ridiculous as some of the suggestions have been, then it won't look good on the other side and they'll just end up getting sued. IMHO if they show they have gone through every possible option and then it's just not possible to do it in a safe way, there is no court of law that would uphold a lawsuit given the circumstances the world is in.

I agree with this, they are doing their jobs, nothing more nothing less. They are trying to find the least shit solution. The final say will be from government, they need to be prepared for that be it in May, October or February.

The criticism they are getting for planning is astonishing, should Puma stop working on next seasons kits just because people are dying? Should the recruitment team put away the tapes because football is not important right now? What about the money men selling sponsorship or new partner agreements, is it to insensitive to proceed with this? Of course not, people that can still work need to be working.

The anger at football clubs and authorities has come down from the very people the anger should be directed at. If the government planned properly they would be prepared like Germany or South Korea are, but they didn't and as usual they pick the easy target to proportion blame to.

To all lurching Bus Wreckers- Drink it in.

Yup, no matter how much cheating they get away with, how much intimidation they orchestrate and how much beneficial assistance they receive from their cohorts, the red scousers will never have a moment anywhere near this one. Dream on, dream on, no hope in your hearts la...
