Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Until there is a vaccine so they say they maybe one in September doubtful so more like 12/18 months.
Agreed. Some hope that a safe effective vaccine may be found by September of this year but then it will take twelve months or so to manufacture and administer it. Without mass vaccination there cannot be mass gatherings so I would say the 2021/22 season is the earliest we could get proper live football back.

I think at this stage it is fully dawning on them that this season is dead and buried.
They will now be looking at how they can salvage next season.
People may only just be realising that matches behind closed doors will be the only option for the 2020/2021 season.
If they allow SKY/BT/Amazon access to all matches including 3.pm's. They may be able to increase TV revenues, but will have to give clubs more to cover match day loses.

Those saying they won't watch, must understand this isn't a prefered option for anybody. It's a needs must scenario, and everybody will have to adapt for the time being.
It will be unique, and maybe they will have to feed some generic crowd noise (red button option?)

There is no way they will just cancel football until it is safe for crowds.
There is no way it will be safe to have large crowd gathering for at least 6-12 months. So it is what it is.

Things might change if data starts to point to enough herd/mass immunity to allow crowds back again.
They may even allow people under a certain age to attend games first, and increase that age when things improve.

Unless those who get vaccinated get some proof they have had it before requiring a ticket.

For Sale: One season card in EL 304. Not needed for a while as belongs to FOC, currently banned until further notice for being a senile delinquent.

Yes, that might be a possibility. And I agree with Fulabeer's post too. The thing which may worry authorities though is the strong possibility that crowds of folk will turn up attempting to get into games which have no or restricted access.

When do people think we will see a live game again.
I'm not talking behind closed doors.
If they play behind doors I will act as if it's not been played will not watch on tv or on pub.
I'm talking about actually going to the game ..what footballs all about.
I cant see it next season even

Not for at least 12 months, is my opinion. I just can't see how it could possibly be sooner than that

Just seen on bbcnews web site Danish football plans drive-in football. Games to be played behind close doors when games resume and big screens put up in the car parks so supporters can watch from their cars.

Not having a go at the messenger but. Essential travel? One person in each car I would presume. That's the way to watch footie. Cannot wait.

This 100% , until a vaccine is found and administered football grounds will remain empty . I certainly wouldn’t put my health , my families health or friends health at risk over a game of football.

It is ‘increasingly likely’ that the rest of the season will be played at neutral venues behind closed doors, should football return. Designated stadiums in the south, Midlands and north would host games to minimise travel for staff, TV crews and medical teams. [

Privately, some Premier League clubs believe there is ‘very little chance’ of the campaign being completed. There is also growing confidence that Sky Sports and BT Sport would not attempt to claw back the £370million owed for outstanding matches. [

So how does that work ? Are the car parks going to be on a slop ? I drive a Mazda mx 5 it sits about 6 inches of the ground knowing my luck I would be put behind a great big f**k off range rover..
