Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

can't be any go ahead until at least this lockdown end may 8th, so a minimum of early june for resumption, 9/10 games to get in before june30th and into loans and contract shenaningans
and that providing we meet the 5 tests the government keep banging on about

just can't see it

plus when you see the scientists and medical officers on the press conferences they are so cautious it's unreal, there's no way they are going to give any green light in the coming weeks

Don't forget the preseason to get the players back training then they need to get match fit,
that could take 3 to 4 weeks

The PL needs to restart as quickly as possible. We may have a window, of only a couple

of weeks where Refs will still maintain x2m from our players & not block our passes......

Very sensible and somewhere that players can't pass it on to each other when they touch each other during a, erm contact sport

On a serious note, you can't stop everyone hugging and fist bumping and everything that is second nature in football, crowd or no crowd makes no difference to the fact that everyone involved on match days has to continue as normal, there wil be lots of times teams are isolating,it only takes one for them all to have isolate and test the lot

What happens if they restart the season, find that games are having to be postponed, they seem to be wanting to finish the season in a set time, you can't fight illness like this,it is fucking up everything

It really is a nonsense to try and rush it back

No need to worry with Salah, Mane, etc - there's nobody within 6 feet of them and they go down like a sack of potatoes.

If they restart the season then they can carry on straight into next season then can’t they? Empty stadiums no match day revenue etc etc. What’s the excuse for them not? To me it’s upto the players to step up now and refuse to play, what they going to do then? I’ve said before once Liverpool have won their two games you will see non of their first 11 anywhere near this, that means teams in relegation battle who have to play them will have an easier game, so not a fair playing field.
As soon as those scouse twats find where the winning game is going to be played they will all be hoping in stolen cars to get outside that stadium, they won’t give a shit, police will have a nightmare having to close roads around whatever stadium it is to turn them back.
BBC saying it will lift the nations spirits even behind closed doors, utter shite, I watched united and the Dortmund game is was awful and they had something to play for at that time, after around 5 games there maybe nothing to play for.
If anything okay the FA cup games at Wembley over a week or two, put the players in hotels nearby and at least you’d have a conclusion within a short space of time. Personally I don’t want to even see that. I’ve been to the Nightingale in Manchester and the thought of that getting full is bloody awful, sadly I think come the end of the year it will be.

the worry for me is I feel so much better not putting myself thought the build up , the after match stress. Watching what I believe to be a bent league. If it wasn't for my unending love of City I would have walked this season 100%. I don't want to walk but my eyes aren't lying. I love City to bits for the last 60yrs but this season ? if this is the new type of football its not for me.

Just think how much money you will save Gordon not having to travel up from Margate

What happens for example if during training to get the season restarted, one of city’s first team players shows symptoms, has to self isolate for 14 days and the rest of the squad do also as a precaution? how can the league start if a team any team is hampered in this way?. If I was at city I would be using this to get back at the red c**ts

But if football is to be played behind closed doors even with no fans allowed within 1km radius of the grounds ,where do you think liverpool fans will celebrate? That's right there will be house parties all over Britain, Ireland ,Scandinavia and beyond. Fans mixing with their fellow fans to celebrate the end of 30 years of hurt. So in effect by restarting the league, sky sports will be responsible indirectly to a new wave of covid19 infections

that is very true but I think I will miss coming home I like to take a little drive around Didsbury/fog lane area and burnage and going around eastern circle at least once a season lol. I need my Manc fix at least once a year to help me get use to this cockneys down here lol. So I guess I will still come up for at least 1 or 2 games might not be the normal 10 or 12 a season for the time being but who knows !

To true Gordon. If it wasn't for my love of City I would definitely not be going back. It has been criminal the way that officiating and VAR has completely trashed the game I love. It is also criminal that the media haven't kicked off but have, by omission, agreed with it.

Maybe they weighed it up and thought it safer then the parties and celebrations there would be in every other city if the season was null and voided
