Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Here we go again, testing for antibodies not 100% reliable, at the moment it's reported that people may be reinfected. Honestly, too much is unknown at the moment to talk about easing off lockdown restrictions. Pressure is obviously being applied by businesses that are going to fold if they don't reopen and people need to earn money to feed themselves and their family but the risks are massive. Not surprised that death rates are being held , the virus is starved of new recipients but it won't take too much for a second wave. We've had 2 weeks of taking lockdown seriously and we think we've cracked it because other countries are doing better and we want to enjoy their freedom. If the country comes out of lockdown, i wouldn't have sport or entertainment infront of other industries. It is frivolous trivia.
Just finished watching the 1970 World Cup final on Youtube , obviously free to watch , a great game and free from VAR shite. Plenty to choose from, you don't need the season to restart to get your fix.
Liverpool lose out on a Premier League title - potentially, we may have missed out on a cup treble, mates of mine have missed their teams getting promoted to the Premier, - leeds and Baggies again all possibilities and now big disappointments. But ultimately i don't want to see people die and i want the true industries , schools , small business to recover. Football behind closed doors is a non starter and is a false result , not even close to the spectacle prior to lockdown so we can't even say we are finishing the season.

I agree 99% of the public are giving up alot to obey the government guidelines, if football restarts in lockdown it will be a real kick in the teeth for the public.

If it's ok for football why isnt it ok for a wedding ?

There's an article in the ST this morning suggesting that footballers are suffering from not playing games, and that mental issues and addiction are increasing with each day's lockdown. The PFA also state that they have been swamped with requests for support in these extraordinary times. Mind, the horse racing fraternity also seem desperate to start. I think there is a clear attempt by sport to push the agenda and relax (ignore) any aspect of a lockdown.

If the government only issue 'guidelines' then football will interpret the guidelines as refs do with the LotG - make it up as you go along!

Footballers are suffering from not playing ......
Isnt my auntie who is stuck in her small 4th floor flat for another 6 or more weeks, she lives on her own and is normally out every day ? I thought we were all in this together !!

Just as we were in the black hole of financial meltdown - we were all in it together. But it's like the bullshit that surrounds equality - some are more equal than others. We're all in it together, but some are more in it that others!

Liverpool MSM sycophants are so transparent

Obviously they want this season completed by Hook, or by Crook.

They are getting more desperate as we head in to May.Their proposals more ridiculous.

They dont give a metaphorical about potentially ruining next season, and a fresh campaign for all Clubs, and their supporters

They just want this one completed at any cost.Even if it means starting this season again in August, and starting the new Season straight after. Then the players get to play another season with no winter break and go off to the Euros half dead just so Liverpool can get their hands on what has alluded them for 30 years.

The same MSM hypocrites will be harping on about players being half dead and playing none stop since they were forced to complete a season that should have been "Null and voided".

I hope the players collectively make a stand. They also have been isolated for a month solid like the rest of us.Likely unfit without a regular game.

no one is remotely interested in Football right now.

We only want it back when it is safe for the players, and safe for the fans.If that is next year then so be it.Athletes and ethnic minorities are in disproportionately higher risk groups.

that doesn't make any sense to me, its cutting your nose off to spite your face
the harsh reality is we are guided by government advice, football clubs are like any other business they have to make money to survive and have to use the government schemes to survive if they need to
where i'm coming from they would get it back up and running behind close doors etc which would mean financial ruin for many a club as they would be paying out with nothing coming in and they don't care about that
i want this season back as i think we have a great chance of another treble but not at the expense of clubs folding en masse
and there is no point without crowds

How about just not at the expense of somebody dying?

It's a complete strawman about clubs going to the wall.

That's what these bastards want to blackmail with.

That, and how sporting fixtures will be good for the mood of the nation.

One person dying or infecting a group of others outweighs the cost of everything else.

My family aren't adhering to social distancing and missing the people we love just so some other ****s can brag about football and the money it brings in.

I'm sure Raheem Sterling's young kids will really appreciate the money he leaves them in his bank account should he die as a result of playing fucking football.

Oh well, I'm sure the faux grief outpouring and RIP brigade can reassure his kids and the nation in general, at least he died playing the game he loved.
