Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

How about just not at the expense of somebody dying?

It's a complete strawman about clubs going to the wall.

That's what these bastards want to blackmail with.

That, and how sporting fixtures will be good for the mood of the nation.

One person dying or infecting a group of others outweighs the cost of everything else.

My family aren't adhering to social distancing and missing the people we love just so some other ****s can brag about football and the money it brings in.

I'm sure Raheem Sterling's young kids will really appreciate the money he leaves them in his bank account should he die as a result of playing fucking football.

Oh well, I'm sure the faux grief outpouring and RIP brigade can reassure his kids and the nation in general, at least he died playing the game he loved.

think you have completely misunderstood me mate, i agree with every single word you have written, its a given public health is first and foremost.
my point about clubs going bust would happen if we insist on finishing this season once it is safe to do so(fans in attendance) at the expense of next which is what liverpool, their fans and all their luvvies want for the "integrity of the game" when in fact all they want is the title.
i get that up to the start point clubs could go bust anyway, hopefully thats where the government could help(longer furlough maybe)
obviously its simple economics more games more revenue

This. The whole thing could be a logistical nightmare. You can test the players but the surfaces within the stadium would have to be disinfected - what about ground staff preparing the environment (would they need testing)? What happens if one of the teams has too many key players testing positive- is the game abandoned?
I can’t see how this will work without there still being an element of risk. If the government sees fit to lift the lock down and open businesses then fair enough but before then I can’t see it happening.

What's more, you can test someone today and even if the test is reliably negative (which we can no way guarantee now), they could get infected tomorrow! So you would need everyday testing of everyone with a reliable test - until you have an effective vaccine which is estimated as 2Q2021. Prior to that, we will see some controlled opening to prevent small businesses going to the wall or the economy completely collapsing, but I cannot see where Football fits into any of this. Let's sort out people's health, jobs and livelihood. Then maybe sports ...

The FA Cup requires seven more games to complete the competition , the Champs league and europa league need between twenty to twenty five games to complete that competition , the Premier league needs over ninety games to decide the final positions , so which competiton should be the first to null & void , answers on a postcard to Candle F.C. , Anfield Rd .Dipperpool , Murkyside.

Apologies mate, I was just pigging backing on the latter part of your post as to what some of the justifications they are making for playing again.

I realise we are singing from same hymn sheet.

As for the argument being made by those pushing for football to resume, in supposed concern of clubs going to the wall.

Where were all these concerned stakeholders just six months ago when Bury were going cap in hand and only needed an extra couple of days to facilitate a rescue package...

no worries mate did seem out of context.

i suppose in the bury case they were run by a complete charlatan who couldn't two shits and were a basket case of their own making so why would one help(i would add there is a case to help bury if new responsible owners appear)

but now this is something not of everyone's making and feels different

This will work then, testing them all will leave no time for the game

The Premier League has calculated it needs a minimum of 300 people for a match to take place behind closed doors, with the maximum believed to be close to 500 people. [

Those people discussing Summer transfers are a menace. They need a warning at least.
Money and football in the same sentence.

P.s I wish I hadn't used the word "faux"this morning. I feel like a northern del boy
