Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

its grim up north well that game would last about 12hrs at least. We would need 12 officials for each and every game. Each one taking 1hr shift of actual football, before having a break. Well at least this way there shouldn't be any extra time.

The players have all the power here, if they don’t feel safe football doesn’t happen. Rightly so, why should they put themselves and their families in danger. You can’t play a contact sport all the while whilst the rest of the world is being told to stay 2 metres apart.
This. Even though football is far removed from normal day life health and safety procedures still apply.
If my employer tells me to do something i feel would but me at risk i have the right to raise my concerns and not proceed until proper procedures are in place to guarantee my safety
Im a key worker and if i go to a job and there are other people in the same area and cant social distance while i complete my job i can walk off site

Declare all leagues null and void and look at starting the new season when possible slso cancel fa cups. Re start this season champs and europa lge in march next year if all is well. No need for promotion or relegation and european spots to be decided as no european football next season.

I know it's Bollocks, but no worse than some of the ideas the authorities are coming up with.

This complete denial of the football authorities in their recognising of the eventuality of this situation, is becoming rather akin to the band playing as the Titanic sunk and thousands died.

The mass media too. It was only a few weeks ago Gary Neville was talking about a festive of football to be played in June to lift the mood of the country, he has now changed his tune. It was obvious to many that his festival of football was pie in the sky stuff. Henry Winter was another. Don’t think they fully understood what was hitting us. Strange as most on here could see what was unfolding before us.

This will have given players a taste of what it is like to retire,i wonder how many like it,dinho seems to not like it much

Fernandinho: “I just want to get back to work and play again. I extended my contract a couple of months ago and I am so happy, but after that, we'll see. If we have another conversation about another contract in the future, I would be happy

In a way i'm glad we are in second place this season. if we were top again I know I could not get any joy out of winning the title when so many people worldwide have died because of this virus. If they do play it to completion, I wonder how the rest of the country, apart from the media, would react to scouse celebrations that to me would be nothing more than dancing on the graves of covid victims.
Worse still - being seen to pull any strings in an attempt to achieve that hollow victory.

I have a feeling that when the pretenders to the title know they are not going to get their way, they will declare that in view of the national emergency it is only right that safety comes first. Much in the same way that with the aid of the media they became heroes for dropping their scheme to get us taxpayers to pay the wages of their staff.

It’s the desperation in their belief that it is fine to start playing again, if they had their way, it would be going next week, meanwhile thousands are dying around the globe every day from this virus, and all they see are their profit margins and gravy train drying up.
Disgusting and shameful behaviour.
