This whole 'he was looking at the ball' crap is irrelevant. There's such a thing as peripheral vision and spatial awareness. It's so obvious he meant it.
Remember when Adebayor was sent off against Stoke for throwing an arm - he sure as hell wasn't looking at the player he hit, but he got a straight red for that iirc.

This is slightly confusing. I thought i heard someone say the league cup was different to league games. In this instance the referee makes the decision. He looks at the video evidence and if he would have given a red card if he had seen the incident then the player gets banned.

All club games in England come under the jurisdiction of the FA so there's no procedural difference between competitions.
Could be wrong here but I'm pretty sure the capital one cup comes under the jurisdiction of the Football League as its their competition hence the different procedure for referral.

Re: Costa Charged!

Why has the Skrtel stamp been ignored? If you look at that one Costa actually looks down before stamping on him!! That would have taken the whole he wasn't looking at the player so didn't mean it bullshit out of the equation ..... If the FA let him get away with this they are basically saying it's OK to stamp as long as you don't look at the victim when you do it .... I seem to remember when Balotelli got done he wasn't looking at the player .....

Costa is a f*cking thug and should have the book thrown at him, all these d*ckheads on twitter that say 'he has an edge to his game but you'd have him in your team in a heartbeat..... ehh NO .... I don't want c*nts in my team!!

Are you suggesting that all teams and players outside of the PL also have a seperate body that charges and conducts hearings, other than the FA.
Sorry you`re barking up the wrong tree.Every club in the country has to be registered with the FA and therefore it is they alone who will oversee any decisions not the Football League. If it were the FL then no PL teams would surely not be entering a competition which they are not part of.

I think there are some competitions where full FA regulations do not apply.

For example at Curzon Ashton, you can drink on the terraces for a Northern Prem League game, but for any FA Cup or FA Trophy game you cannot, due to it being an 'FA Competition'.

The player can appeal, which is then heard by a three-man panel.

I`m sure Richard Attenborough, Tim Lovejoy, and Sebastian Coe will come up with the correct decision.
Unless they've got a reincarnated Doris Stokes on the panel as well, I can't see Dickie Attenborough attending.
