Costel Pantilimon

He's done well. Some of the crosses he could have delt with better. No doubt hart is the better keeper but panti is way better at getting the ball out quickly. We punished spurs on the counter at times yesterday. The quick long throw out is a great example of what hart should be doing.

I think he's done well but looks a bit weak on one on ones. He's less mobile than joe and I don't think he goes down well enough.

Still he deserves to be number 1 as he's made no mistakes so far. Although I personally think any goalkeeper could be in goal for us at the moment as it's hardly been an overworked position in the last few games.

Yes but........

Hart was hardly overworked against Cardiff Villa and dare I say it Chelski and look what happened there... Eight goals shipped.

Hart has to be given a run of games in the next few weeks. If only to determine whether we sign a new keeper in Jan.

Unfair on Pantilimon, but that's the downside when you join a club as back up keeper.

We won't sign a keeper in January. Very very unlikely. I think it'd send Joe the wrong signal restoring him in PL games next weekend and I don't think Pellegrini will do it.

Pantilimon has been just fine since replacing Hart. It has to be said that he's not really been tested too much however, we've beaten Norwich 7-0, beaten Spurs 6-0, lost 1-0 to Sunderland, where they had maybe 2 or 3 shots, and beaten CSKA Moscow 5-2 in the cup, who were really poor. He's not really done anything wrong but hasn't had the opportunity to really impress given the performances of the opponents.

Some of his weaknesses is down to the way he is built. At his frame he isnt going to be the most mobile and he could stand to not keep the ball at his feet for so long, one time I thought they were going to pull one back in the way Arsenal scored against Southampton. But he's been very good for us and keeps so many clean sheets.

I think his distribution is better than Hart's, especially some of his quick throw outs. Joe seems to hold onto the ball for too long in my opinion.
However, he flapped at a couple of things yesterday and if Joe had done the same he'd have been slated and told to concentrate on practicing his catching not doing adverts. I just hope Costel hasn't got a pantene ad lined up or he's going to get slagged off big time.

i would like to see him get 10 league games then bring Joe back.

It certainly won't be based on a fixed number of games. Pants will keep the jersey until Joe plays his way back in or Pants plays himself out ... or a combination of the two.
As stated by others, I think Joe is better on one on ones and low crosses, as he gets down quicker, but at least Pants knows his place is between the sticks, not trying to be Franz Beckenbauer.

Flapped at a couple of corners, and didn't inspire confidence with the commanding of his area. In spite of his height, he doesn't have much of a physical presence.

But he's much more cool and composed than Joe. His distribution is light years ahead of Joe's, has the confidence to play it short from the back, and made a very good save from Adebayor.

That said, if Joe doesn't return to his usual self, then neither are good enough long term. Should that happen then I'd like to see us go for a top draw keeper in the summer.

We can't afford to mess about in a key position, no room for sentimentality either. If Joe doesn't get his act together, we should bring in a new keeper.
