That’s fair comment l, but the exception that proves the rule - and I reckon he’d struggle to nail the gear and play at the top level today.

It's a weird question and I can see both sides. I had two mates at school who were really good at football. At 15/16, there was no comparison in my eyes - John was the most talented footballer I've ever shared a pitch with. Danny on the other hand was excellent and effective. John liked a joint, an E and a trip and never really did anything. Danny looked after himself and played for United, Preston, Bury and Rochdale youths.

If I was playing a cup final at 25 years old, I'd go Danny given the choice of team mates. If I'm asked who was the better footballer though, it's John every day for me.

The same for Gazza and ZZ.
