Could you go a month without alchohol?

Think my world record is 9 weeks but to be fair I was stuck on a pipe laying barge in the South China Sea , didn’t miss it one bit but still got pissed as soon as I got to shore :-)
In recent times it 3 weeks due to illness ...

What would be the point in that?
Just had a couple of weeks trying to explain to American waitresses that when I wanted a ‘light’ beer I meant light in colour and not in alcohol content.
Most certainly agree if you drink it for its alcohol content however the OP is talking about giving up alcohol for a month.
I was wondering if the 0,0 beer would help or hinder such a decision.

There is certainly a growing market for the non alcoholic version of beer obviously not with those who have no intention to remove alcohol from their diet.

I see the point you are making but unless you actually like the taste, and I’ve never had a low alcohol beer that tastes good, you’d just be drinking empty calories without the bonus of the alcohol

That's a good post and I agree completely with all of it. I quite fancy a cold beer now thinking about it - not just yet, a bit later on this evening. But if I don't, it will not bother me. A cold beer and a rare opportunity to sit a watch a film in peace is what I have ahead of me this evening.
I've probably drunk more in the last eight years than at any point previously. I guess I'm quite ambivalent my drinking. On the one hand I've never had one of those 'rock bottom' moments and I've never felt my drinking is out of control and nor it has impacted on my working life in any material sense, and I've never felt the 'need' to stop, but equally I know I can't carry on at the same rate as I approach my fifties, not if I want to see my sixties. It's not that I want to slow down, as I (presently) 'take more out of drink than it takes out of me' but sadly the music has to stop (or at least slow down) eventually. Your body simply can't take the same hammering as you continue to age.

On no alcohol days, I have a couple of cans of Bavaria lager. It’s ok and refreshing when cold.

Where I now live alcohol is very cheap in fact prices of most brands the same for alcoholic or non alcoholic beer.
Those I know who have medical or other reasons to give up alcohol still drink their brand maybe San Miguel or Estrella but 0'0.
They claim it works well as a substitute giving good taste but obviously cero alcohol so some things have improved since Kalibar.

I’ve just come in from a walk, really thirsty, but would prefer a Coke or water rather than a lager, unless it was very cold and brewed in either Belgium or Northern France, and even then I’d have to give it a think.
Not really fancied beer as much these days.

Indeed it has.
Just prefer other non alcoholic drinks than non alcoholic beer, Coke has always been a favourite with ice and lemon, which I first had as a kid in the neck of the woods you currently reside.

Generally try and do one 'dry' month a year, January this year but I tend to favour February for obvious reasons. I find the first week difficult but once your body's got on board with the change then I quite enjoy it, particularly the sleep quality and increase in energy level in the mornings.

Think Bavaria is brewed in Holland! I’m with you on Belgian beer though. Nice couple of Delirium Tremens goes down a treat! If I am really thirsty Water is the best drink in the world. A good G and T is very nice too as is a chilled Chablis. It’s a bit pricey to neck though. I remember back to being a teenager, game of footy in the park on a hot summer day and then straight down the pub, still hot and sweaty. That first pint of Belhaven lager and lime went down in about two nanoseconds and didn’t touch the sides. It was nectar. I’m just about to go and mix a couple of large g and t’s!

Hahaha
I used to work in a large bakery during the summer hols and a hot night like tonight would be a nightmare. We used to do a thirteen hour shift on a Thursday night and would nip out on hour break at high speed to the local, neck two pints of lager of lime, catch a bit of TOTP then race back and burn myself silly on the oven.
Never got into gin, though the wife loves gin. Neck the Chablis, you’re only here once, and you’ll be here for less time the more you neck so it effectively costs less.

Easily. I used to be a right piss head, but now my idea of a drinking session is a half of bitter with a meal. (To be honest, anything more makes me ill.) I find I don't really miss alcohol and rarely touch it. If decent soft drinks at a sensible price were more readily available, I'd likely go tee-total.

No.
When you're on the other side of the bar having to listen to shit night after night, you need a drink to take the edge off. On the plus side, there's been many a good night out of the blue thanks to good ol' ale. It might shorten your life expectancy - but if you count your age in laughs and the craic then I've already lived to be older than most. Cheers!
