Could you/would you take in refugees

To be honest halfmist, I do agree with you. There is quite a responsibility to look after people who have been through the most traumatic experience and it should be very carefully thought through before offering. There are practicalities as simple as how does it affect the house insurance if someone injures themselves or for example the dog attacks them, or if something expensive gets broken, will you still be covered? What about if you need to go away for work or to look after a relative and you need to leave them on their own, would you be comfortable with it. It's not just about if you have space but also if you can be around enough for them whilst honouring your other commitments. We think we'd struggle so have just committed to making donations to DEC when we can.

Thats a fine and reasoned point. But how many rooms do you have?

Seriously though it isn’t suitable or feasible for everyone by any stretch of the imagination and no one should judge anyone who doesn’t do it. We’ve got a holiday planned in July so will have to put them in kennels or something… no will have relatives stay - if we get accepted and can find someone who our offer can help.

Of course It assumes you have relatives who are willing to sacrifice one/two weeks of their holiday to look after them whilst you go on yours. If not will you pay for them to go with you. Not a trick question genuinely interested.

I have this theory about Social Media. I can predict someone’s IQ +-1 on the basis of the quality of their posting. You have just proved my system is working perfectly.
Proof if needed that a high IQ doesn’t really mean Jack shit. I mean, you knew what you originally posted would get peoples backs up but you went ahead anyway because “You say it’ll how it is” even though sometimes it’s the better option to not come across as an uncaring I’m alright so fuck everyone else type.
Nobody would judge somebody on wherever they would take in refugees or not, that’d be daft.
Showing off your wealth when talking about families lives being destroyed by war isn’t a great look however much you try and justify it.

What makes you think he has a high IQ. His garbled posts would suggest the opposite.

Unfortunately it’s wouldn’t be practical for them to come with us based on where we are going. But even if it was I’m not sure what their passport and reentry status would be either. But I’d have no issue sending them off for a fortnight in a caravan park somewhere or something like that.

I’m lucky enough to have relatives who will stay at mine. But again, and to @Citizen of Legoland point, it won’t be practical for everyone and there is a lot of things to give consideration to. It’s not just about having a room.
