FFS you clown. Go back and read the conversation before jumping in and thinking you know what's going on.

We're talking about the effect of quarantining over 70's on the load on the NHS, how keeping them safe in isolation while lots of other people catch it keeps the healthcare system under it's capacity.

@SWP's back knows that, so fuck knows why he's liked your completely irrelevant comment.
So how do we quarantine them with no sufficient units?

The airlines are taking the piss on this. Sure, I get that they're in grave danger of going bust due to this but you'd have thought anywhere going into lockdown would lead to all flights being cancelled with immediate effect, with measures brought in to fly anyone back home. The same has happened with Malta - their government announced at the back end of last week that everyone arriving into the country would be going into quarantine in their hotel rooms for 14 days and anyone caught out on the streets would be fined 1000 Euros, yet the airlines were still flying people in after that announcement.
I agree largely - but there are some other considerations on this which the airlines have to pay attention to.

Cyprus has just gone into - I was due to fly there with BA in a few days. But..................

The lock down still means that Cypriot citizens are allowed in and of course some of the people on the flight will be Cypriot citizens - there were also other exceptions. So the flight is going ahead.

So BA cannot really just cancel the flight - what they have done is give me a voucher for the value of my tickets for use against a future booking - which seems more than fair enough to me as they will have the double whammy of still operating the flight and then the reduced profit from a further flight

Perhaps Malta has a similar policy/situation?

Just some perspective with regards to those still going on about football, champions, league places, relegation etc...

I work for one of the biggest manufacturers of Blood Glucose Monitoring test strips in the world, serving millions diabetic patients worldwide. This weekend we were told that all office staff, with the capability to work from home should do so. Staff in operations/manufacturing are to continue heading into work to make product to serve patients. If the shit really hits the fan over here and manufacturing has to shut down, at some point in the future, when stock is depleted, millions of diabetics around the world are not going to be able to test themselves. Just for a second imagine the knock-on impact of this. My company is just one of thousands in the healthcare industry across the globe in a similar situation.

Those that don't think that coronavirus has that big of an impact, or that its only a small percentage of elderly people, with underlying health issues will be affected, need to wake up. It is much, much bigger than that. Only small percentages may die from coronavirus itself but many millions more will be seriously impacted across all walks of life. The relatively small number of deaths from coronavirus will be reported daily, what isn't being reported is the many more deaths from other illnesses, that can be directly attributed back to the impact of coronavirus.

Give Liverpool the title, dont give them the title. Relegate the bottom three teams as it currently stands, dont relegate them. Promote Leeds, dont promote Leeds. It means NOTHING, at this moment in time football is NOTHING.
I don’t quite agree that football is nothing. Arguing about the football issues is a healthy distraction. It doesn’t really matter whether Liverpool are given the title, but staring into the abyss all day isn’t good for us.

The old terries nappy. These young parents do not know they are born
On the plus side, the kids will be toilet trained quicker. They’ll be desperate to get free of the terries. With the modern ones they can keep pissing themselves all day without any discomfort

Have just asked an old couple who were struggling, if they wanted a hand with their shopping, their reply, 'Only if you wash you hands first'...in the middle of a car park I said 'that's pretty difficult to do right now' and so they refused my help, 'thanks but no thanks'.....my first interaction with those who I thought needed some help outside of my 'home' boundary. I respect that they refused, but I suppose I need to have some gloves and hand stuff before I ask again. Fear of others is out there, and it doesn't leave me with a good feeling.

I think we're past caring about fines.
Priority is to do what we can to protect our kids.
whilst I am worried for my kids and grandkids which is natural I am more worried about my Mrs who has asthma. Kids should be fine based on stats so far. It’s the elderly that are dying from this.

31st December.
Correct.

Though Lad Bible did an interview with a person called Connor Reed, who was the first Brit to contract the virus in Wuhan and he stated he was sick with it back in November.

Whilst what he describes the illness being like is pretty brutal, I do feel it probably indicates that this has been around since late October/early November.
