My mate (25yrs) was denied a test on Friday, he’s had all of the symptoms for the past 10 days and has been coughing up blood. He’s been denied a test and told to self isolate.
I don’t know exactly what’s going on but it’s obvious the current figures are skewed, Boris himself said last week he thinks there could be 10,000 infected at a time the U.K. officially ‘only’ had about 400.
I’ve been in direct contact with him as we shared a snooker cue last week and sat together at Wembley (not knowing how he’d been). I work for the emergency services and rang 111 for advice as advised by my boss. I was told only to self isolate if I have symptoms or have been in direct contact with a confirmed case. How can I know if he’s a confirmed case if they won’t test him?
Apologies - just saw the last paragraph you added. I agree that it's a bit annoying trying to suss if you've been in direct contact with a definite carrier or not. I can only add that they simply don't have the resources to test us all.
As an aside, places like Wembley were a breeding ground for this - not just being sat in the stadium itself, but going for a piss at half-time, mixing in the pubs before and after, travelling on the tube before and after, etc. I actually can't believe that that game was only 15 days ago, given how everything has escalated so much since. In that 7 days from March 1st, I went to Wembley, Hillsborough, and Old Trafford, so fuck knows how many people I could've come into contact with who had it, and of course how many people I could've passed it on to if I (unknowingly) had it. Since then I've knocked all unnecessary contact on the head which means sacking off the pub, going out for meals, etc. Honestly, I feel like this is a script right out of the most far-fetched of horror stories.
