Tesco just rang me,the drivers are told to ask everyone if they are ill,i told him yesterday i had it 3 weeks ago so his manager rang me to say they wont bring my shopping in again but leave it at the door,i told him i haven't been infectious for about 2 weeks now but he still says they wont bring in my shopping,doesnt make much difference to me but they really need to educate themselves about it,they cant catch it off me now

That quote you gave - same sentence, so linked, however inadvertently. No clear mention of a radically different timeframe. No clarification published despite immediate reporting indicating that the media understanding was other than what might be intended.

I do not consider advice to be action - no enforcement, not practical for some population. Woolly, and doesn't butter parsnips. Blocking major events/gatherings would have been action, but they didn't. They didn't even ban foreign school trips from what I heard, they merely advised about them!

whatever their words their actions showed they wanted the most people to catch it early to get herd immunity,they talked about 60% needing to get it and by not banning mass gatherings,football etc they demonstrated they wanted mass exposure,i don't know why some people are denying that was their plan

Yes they do,we have been told you are not infectious after a week and you are the most contageous before you get symptoms

I'd be amazed if not, i suspect they are holding the numbers back until Johnsons update later today. every day the numbers are increasing and wouldnt be surprised to see the number of deaths go up by another 20 today.

WHO are basically saying now in their presser you must test all suspected cases.

Sufferers can be infectious for possibly two weeks after symptoms have stopped.

Children can catch it and thinking it is just the elderly at risk isn't correct, though are still the highest risk.

Don't hoarde items, wash hands and use social distancing.


Solidarity amongsts nations and people is necessary.

The government are to use best western hotels as itu beds with ventilators in them, jcb will be making the ventilators senior staff received a memo yesterday

I am just catching up with the thread mate (and this point might have been covered elsewhere) but it seems some other countries are using 3D printed components in ventilators so it might not be as difficult as it seemed yesterday to scale up production. It clearly requires having the raw materials and maybe flexibility over medical device regs.

Have they confirmed they are able to do it? Last I read was about them wanting to help but it being unlikely anyone can do much. There’s no agreed blueprint and getting the components will take many weeks potentially months. Has there been an update to that?

Some of the trickier components can be reproduced using a 3D printer.

Because there is so much out there in the media being said it is now difficult to understand what is and what isn't true. Supposedly PHE said that worst case scenario means 7.9m people will end up in hospital. Doesn't say over what time period from what I could see not dos it say that any measures put in place will mean it won't happen so not a very helpful piece. Mail headline yesterday said a 59 year old died of the illness but then goes on to quote his wife saying that until he has the post mortem they don't know what he died from. But if you don't read the article you just see the headline. I can't believe that people are using this virus to increase clicks, likes, followers etc.

In line with what @domalino, I, and a few others on here were saying is needed and we would likely eventually shift to doing.

Targeted testing on potentially impacted cohorts is the most efficient and informative strategy (rather than randomised or full population testing, which would require massive resources to do continually, cyclically, and wouldn’t be particularly informative).
