A lot of them have changed to take away food which helps them and people still need to go out and get food and drink, what should stop is people being allowed to gather there i agree

Exactly, close them to the public if they then want to deliver then so be it. Doors remain open and people will still go, not enough people to keep these businesses afloat but enough people to potentially spread this virus needlessly

They were brits!
I think you’ll find Spaniards we’re doing what they we’re told.

I know mate. The point I was making is that you can’t hold a government responsible for people who ignore what they’re requested to do, one of them being Johnson’s own dad ffs! As for the Spaniards, I think I read on here the other day that some weren’t following the orders at first but they’ve pretty much all fallen into line now.

Why can't you claim unemployment?
we are self employed. If we declare ourselves as unemployed ie stop paying NI we can claim something like 650 euro through insurance which will be covered by the state but if during this time we fall ill we will not be covered by the Health Service here. It is not worth the risk especially with whats happening and our age

My youngest Daughter is a waitress and now she's a delivery driver for the same company, they shut their doors to stop the people contact but hope they can still provide a service via take outs.

fingers crossed they do, I feel for these businesses and the government hasn’t helped them.

Sorry that is not a good situation to be in, good luck and I hope it gets sorted quicker than expected.

Could be testing. In general the advanced countries on SE Asia: Japan, China, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan all seem to have been successful in stopping it.

You can be sceptical about the Chinese data but they couldn't keep Wuhan quiet and would not be able to keep an infection in Shanghai or Beijing quiet. It would be very obvious.

The only people you ever see with masks on in the UK, are Chinese, Koreans etc. Were they traumatised by SARs (much more deadly)? I don't know the reason why but these nationalities seem to be much more aware about disease in general. People say they wear masks to stop pollution but their people wear them in the UK, and we don't have a major pollution problem.
SInce SARS, many of them wear masks on airports and stuff, even when there is no any pandemic out there. They are very disciplined people. I had to go very angry to force my wife to start wearing it and she ticks every risk group part possible.

Because the authorities are empowered to punish on the spot.
