Maybe but the Dutch don't have a city like London. Imagine how many people live, work and travel into and out of London every day. Amsterdam's population is less than a million, I presume London on a working day would be 15x that.

Sorry if posted earlier not had chance to catch up on overnight posts, Piers Morgan, tosser that he usually is, is rapidly becoming the man of the people taking it upon himself to call out the companies claiming to be essential workplaces.

The replies from people/companies being made to go into work is appalling, the fact this is being advocated by the government is surely part of the herd experiment - what other explanation is there.

The fact India can lockdown 1.3 billion people, whilst we allow the likes of Next, Halfords etc to force people into work shows where government priorities lie.

God knows where we'll all be when we come out the other side of this, stay safe blues

Not sure about a full blown lockdown quite yet but think the rest of the UK will at least follow Scotlands stricter version with no construction and actually using the term lockdown in the next day or two.

Is Johnson "in power" now?!? He and his government should be firing out edicts like a political gatling gun. Every day, 9am, on the button, nation addressed: This is the law...there are no exceptions.

Yes, there will be, and then expect rioting in some areas.

That sentence makes me feel sad, mate. The thought that people would riot instead of trying to do their bit to halt a worldwide catastrophe tells you exactly where we are in terms of mankind's development. It makes me sad because you are entirely correct.

there will be an inquest but the real mess of this and why it has become global is the “experts” all said global travel was ok and did so until very recently . We had people travelling all over the globe passing it from infected area to clean area and so on and so on. As soon as started to spread from Wuhan the whole of China should have been locked down and flights and travel in and out stopped. If it spread into japan then japan’s borders should have been shut down. When Italy was infected Italy’s borders should have been shut down.

The Sunday times were still saying there are daily flights into London from China and Italy and three flights a week from Tehran. How can this still be happening. Manchester airport has done zero checks on anyone coming into the country. Absolutely none through this.

we won’t know whether out response is right and even if deaths increase ( as they will in the next few weeks ) we won’t know until 3 or 4 weeks from now what affect it has.

South Korea was spiked by a religious cult early doors hence that initial spike. That’s why it looks like they now have it under control , but it’s because it is being compared to the super spreader cult early doors.

Surely this would have been and should be ongoing the way to stop the worldwide spread of a virus? It doesn’t seem to be rocket science. Are we missing something that makes this idea unworkable? Because it just seems the best way to do it.

Whichever city has a deadly virus, lock the city down immediately and close all the borders to that country... what are we missing?

Yes and just walking through immigration and asked if they had been to an infected area, then told to self isolate if they answered yes and that was it.
