And they’ve now asked everyone at my work to go in tomorrow, even though I can work from home (work in a office).... sure this is the same for millions of others.

The government advice was clear. If you can work at home you should work at home. Looks like your bosses are being aresholes.
Perhaps the advice should be: if you can work at home you MUST work at home.

Is that not difficult in Europe though? What’s to stop someone boarding a train or driving to France. Or just booking separate flights?

You can’t get into France from outside the EU

Ok? But that’s 20+ countries. So what I’m saying is, the agreement is that anyone travelling from France can come in. Anyone from those 20+ countries can enter France.

I can kind off understand why the government hadn't explicitly explained how R is calculated. I put myself firmly in the ' hard of learning ' category and I can now see why.
