I know everyone in here likes a good wallow and the 3 pages about how a vaccine trial is a disaster have given some their fix of impending doom. Meanwhile in Massachusetts they have had positive tests of a vaccine that has proven to generate antibodies

Probably won't even get read.
It's not necessarily that, as I see it there's no point in getting too giddy about vaccine trials, however encouraging, as there's a way to go before a workable vaccine hits your local GP. The one you've linked has made a good start but we also have to factor in that it's US-based and pharma companies over there can be very protectionist and also if Trump is still around he may demand initial exclusivity for the home market.

Well given you were/are ? Saying it is only flu i dare say you wouldn't have liked all the horrific details,it is what it is,the trials are very early and very cautious, every minute step is good news but also we might not ever find one

My point being is as soon as there is a hint of bad news you get 3 pages of posts on it, anything remotely positive just fades into the previous pages.

Well it's proving to be worse than flu but nowhere near as bad as what a lot on here were predicting, so I guess the reality is somewhere in the middle. I still think the fallout of the lockdown will be worse than what the virus would ever have been with social distancing and sensible measures.

The negative stories should still be posted, just find it weird how everyone pounces on them. When there were 6-700 deaths a day people couldn't wait to put it on, now it's 150 I think there's only you still bothering.

I not sure anybody said 50 k + if not more that,we only count those with a positive test, even prof whitty was talking about 20k being good, wel l that is going well

I continue to post it because I don't want anyone to just see numbers,i don't want people to be numb to it,every person who died should be recognised, esp those who are putting their lives on the line for every one of us every single day, that is really important to me

The lockdown was understood to have to happen to save our lives, without it god knows what the number would be already, everyone sensible can see that ,it is a pandemic, everything goes out of the window and you just have to suck it up to start with,i don't think the damage from the lockdown will be long lasting in terms of the economy, what it has cost people who can't be with those who died or have been alone is far worse imo

I'm glad you do to be fair now it's dropping down not as many places seem to bother so I know I can find out here if I want to!

Been over all this loads of times before so not getting into it again. Everyone has different opinions and no matter which way we went or go people are unfortunately going to suffer. Hope you're right on the economy.

Well a deadly virus will kill you, having to sit in your warm comfy house not so much

You don't know that, you also don't know if you had caught it and passed it into someone it would kill, you don't know and that is the point of it all ! ten times more infectious than flu
Don't think it's more infectious than flu just fewer people have immunity than recent flu's.

Everyone who served in the military must have asked themselves a similar question the first time they went into combat. i know I did.
Into combat. I'm sure you did. I'm not sure that I would have done. Might is right. Metaphysically speaking, why do you have that right? Don't worry I am not looking for either an answer nor an argument but it raises many questions.
