COVID-19 — Coronavirus

The majority of people rocking up in hospital and being tested are proving to be negative for covid 19. Assuming they all have symptoms that might suggest they have it I would imagine it is hard to say someone almost certainly has it unless they've been tested. Unless they are routinely testing anyone that requires a hospital admission regardless of cause.

Flights still arriving and leaving now I imagine aren't full of tourists but people being repatriated. If they immediately follow lock down procedure they shouldn't be much cause for concern. A test at the airport right now would serve little purpose if we are all living assuming we have it.

It’s 93% on those tested positive where there has been an end result. 1924 closed cases, 1,789 deaths, 135 recoveries. The average death rate around the world for closed cases is around 20% but it’s increasing quickly. There are over 23,000 currently active cases in the UK.

Tbf I don’t think the recoveries statistic has been updated on the UK page for over a week. Not sure why.

Spoke to a doctor who works at mri today. They have plenty of capacity still.

Spare beds is one thing, having doctors and nurses on hand is another. I read this morning that 1 in 4 doctors are off work at the moment. That seems extremely high and could have very serious knock-on effects
