I hope we don’t need to follow suit.

I think we’ve got the balance right at the moment and not allowing people out during the day will crush people’s mental health and be another step to totalitarianism.

I’m in favour of the current measures, it seems to be working and it’ll ensure that the public don’t totally rebel. My fear is a stricter lockdown will result in patches of anarchy here and there.

I think we have the balance more or less right here at the moment

I spoke with a bloke in Saudi yesterday. They can go out to work, supermarket for essentials, exercise etc between 7am-3pm. Anyone who is outdoors outside of these hours are arrested

I'm "it" today, head's working from home. My day's spent mainly ensuring no kids have been put inside a suitcase and launched into the Irwell. Couple of home visits, but stay well at end of the drive and once I've seen the thumbs-up from the kids I'm away.
We've got a fantastic staff who've all risen brilliantly to the challenge - everyone on the rota; all have offered to cover the Easter hols if need be, nobody flinching from doing their bit and all the kids in school know routines/systems inside out. Temperature checks, hand washing, all got individual pens, trays etc. If any parent with their child is late, I won't open the school for them. Once 9am arrives, we're in for the day. Military operation from start to finish. I've been brutal in checking all and any applications for a school place; unexpected knocks on doors; if parents are in, child collected, no more place. Child arrives in same clothes as previous day - back you go. No exceptions. Not sure if we'll be in next week, hoping to have a break, but knowing we have to do our bit to get this thing going downwards so may be in.

Can't be easy Pal, massive respect for all you and your staff are doing.

Just Paris in France

suspect only London would follow if we was to take similar action

We’re doing a bit of work in Bulgaria and I spoke to a woman over there over the phone, end of last week.

They can only go to the shop and are fined if they’re out and not travelling to or from there.

She said they’re on the verge of mass disobedience as people aren’t on board with it, especially as they’re well behind Western Europe for cases, so can’t really see how bad it is.

There’s a growing sense of paranoia, that they’re being returned to communism.

It could get ugly.

Advice given to headteachers include:
Open during the Easter holidays if possible.
Only take in children of key workers, particularly NHS staff.

I understand your fears but if you closed the school to the golden NHS workers, then they may have to take time off work to look after their children, meaning that more lives could be lost.
Yes you are right to be worried, but Public Sector workers are just that, there for the public. And in this case you are just as golden for looking after the children of heroes in the NHS, without whom are fears would be tenfold.
Yes mate I wasn't implying that we shut the school to key worker kids - not at all - but they are so few that senior and well paid staff, like myself - can easily share a rota to look after these small numbers of students and low paid, vulnerable workers - such as Tolmie's missus for example, should not even be put in a situation where they should be asked - unless they want to of course which some of our staff have decided to do.

It could if the pubic aren’t on board. I’ve no idea about current Bulgarian politics but surely whoever is in charge must be a reasonable communicator?

Just tell them to put the news on!

Disobeying lockdown is one thing but how are countries going to cope that can’t implement such as India, the slums in South Africa and Brazil, Pakistan etc. Basically in any country that has lots of poor people, a densely populated areas and poor hygiene....
