Well said, it seems to me 100% of our focus is saving people who have mainly lived their lives whilst causing great long term harm and damage to those who have yet to live it.

the balance needs to be a lot better.
Really? 50/50 on which old people you save?

My kids won't be going back to school until a vaccine or something officially tells me it is safe to do so.

They can try and come for them, I've got a big fucking stick - I work from home and can just as easily home school them with my teacher wife.

It wasn't that long ago they were saying young people weren't getting it.

It wasn't that long ago they were saying for certain that you were immune if had caught it.

It wasn't that long ago they said there was no need to close the schools.

And it wasn't long ago they told me to do the right thing, work hard, save for the future.

Before they told me and my family they were on their own, not entitled to anything.

I'll do what is now right for me and my loved ones.

I don't trust these people the longer it goes on. It physically turns my stomach to hear the Americans leading and pushing the narrative, now being taken up here, that we could now be through the worst of it and we need to rescue the economy.

Bullshit - protect the people first and tear up the rules on the economy.

No problem with education at home "or otherwise".

sorry this may seem like as rant, and long winded.

Part of my job when we have finished the food bank runs is to check that the allotment holders are obeying the new government guidelines of only ONE tenant per plot NO couples and NO children along with the club houses is closed and no washing of hands in the water butts !!

Today on one site there were 6 couples and two had a child with them, I approached all of them and 5 were fine but of course played the we didn't know card, even though all plot holders have been sent emails with the new government guidelines and notices around the site.

Of course ONE couple decide to kick off. I remained polite and just said its government policy so sorry the kiddie shouldnt be here and only one of you should be working the plot. As we were leaving the site at the gate were this couple with the little kiddie and their daughter/mother to the kiddie. The Daughter than starts kicking of saying that her mother has to come up with her father as she doesn't drive !. I said '' couldn't your father come up when you or your husband our at home to be with your mother ?''...…..''NO we don't live with them''. ''Well your daughter shouldnt be with her grand parents if you don't share the same house , you aren't allowed to visit family as we are in lockdown''. Plus her parents looked well into their 70's and aren't that age group meant to be staying in for the 8 or so weeks ?

that didn't go down well !!! ''what are you some sort of jobs worth you little twat !'' the daughter said. ''If it means trying to stop the virus yes I am a jobs worth, you shouldn't be visiting or leaving you kiddie with your parents''. She was going on about schools reopening in 3 weeks yet her daughter cant come to the allotments with her grand parents !. I said ''I have nothing to do with schools only allotments''. I know I shouldn't have mention the fact that they shouldnt be sending their kiddie to the grand parents, but I am getting fed up with people ignoring the lockdown.

As the daughter was getting more confrontational I said '' If you aren't happy with the government's guidelines please phone the council and speak to ******* ****** '', and we walked away as there was no point in talking to her as she thought she was right and I was just a jobs worth twat !!

We got into our van to leave all the family ( 3 generations ) all got into the same car and than blocked our way out. We waited and in the end they moved. The council have said it will close the allotments to all if the guidelines arent followed its a shame that some people really don't give a shit about other people.

going by what I see on a daily basis I don't see this virus or lockdown ending any time soon

sorry for the rant bluemooners ;)
Sorry mate but your Council (TDC) needs to focus on different priorities.

if you just let more people on the allotments do as they wish they have 4 or 5 people on their plots with BBQ before you know it you could have a gathering of 50 or more on site which would be classed a a mass gathering ;) and against government guidelines

Briefing

Number of people in hospital with symptoms 19,529

So if the studies have said around 42% of those in hospital with COVID-19 need ventilators, that's 8,202 ventilators.

From what Hancock said, we've got just over 10,000 ventilators. But there will be plenty in hospital without COVID-19 who require ventilators so presumably we're at the stage now where there's a shortfall or we're on the cusp of a shortfall, possibly explaining all the excess deaths from other illnesses?

Do we know how long it will be before the ventilators start coming in from the private sector?

Stupid decision, unless they are sure the virus is under control, kids won't social distance once back in school, it will be impossible to control

Keeping parents out and teachers apart is perhaps the greater concern. Once children are back in school, primary first, it should be possible to get more parents back to work.
Still, I’m not sure schools are even back in China, so it does seem comparatively early. German punctuality...

It’s just about 12% /15% of those in hospital are in icu from the figures Ive seen, I don’t think all those in icu are on ventilators either.

Do you have to be in ICU to be on a ventilator though?

Apparently, the Government urgently need 18,000 (revised down from 30,000) so the 42% figure sounds about right. I'll try and dig out the study.

No. As usual, Council officials haven’t got a fcukin clue. Working an allotment is one of the best antidotes to climbing the walls and on my local allotment site EVERY single person is respecting the rules.

Our Town Council has circulated National Allotment Society guidelines, which make perfectly good sense.

If and when people hold social gatherings or BBQs, throw the book at them. (They won’t). While they are minding their own business and obeying advice, Council officials should turn their attention to more pressing matters.

Too many of those local authority tossers are on 100% pay and looking for ways to fill their day. Too many of them are shit at the best of times.

Absolutely no dig at you, mate. You are doing what you are told.
