Deaths are worse than ever but really hopeful these stats don't reflect a false dawn in terms of a plateau in case numbers both as raw numbers and % positive. Figures for the next week or so will be interesting and hopefully get the daily numbers back below the 1000 mark (can't believe I'm saying that given we were having low single digit infections a day back in July/August time, but we are where we are).
 
Unsurprisingly to anyone reading my Pop Score daily updates 9 out of 10 of the worst numbers are in the NW in todays new list and Blackburn is top - again no surprise with figures I posted last night.

768 is their weekly Pop score - if you want to compare to the GM numbers I posted last night.
 
Central Station - now Manchester Nightingale hospital - receiving patients today. Not any with Covid but to free up space for the influx expected with Covid into other near full GM hospitals. Used as a place where patients close to being sent home can stay and wait for arrangements to be made for discharge.

In WW 2 when it saw soldiers returning from the front I wonder if it ever expected to be where patients were going to be treated as the nation fought a different war against an invisible enemy.

I don't believe in full lockdown or in limited firebreaks as they will destroy the UK economy - the implications of which are enormous in the long term.
I do however believe in Hands/Face/Space and increasing restrictions based on scientific evidence not theories.
 
Right can somebody just correct me here before I go and kick off royally?

Three people living in a house, 1 gets tested positive last Thursday, the other two recieve positive test results on Sunday.......last Wednesday a person visits them unaware (as they all are at this stage). The person who visited becomes aware that a positive test has been received on Saturday.

1.Should the visitor be self isolating now.....from the time they became aware of the positive test?
2. Should that persons partner who didnt visit also be self isolating.

If it were found that both were still going to work one in a very public indoor enviroment would you takle them about it?

I have worked from home since March. I am loving it to be honest and haven’t looked back. Lots more free time without the commute and can get things done at home before and after work plus at lunch. And I get out at lunch if I can.

I feel the same, at first i didn't like it but over time i can't imagine how i was doing a 7am commute into London and not home again till 7pm, all that travel time i can be doing far more productive stuff, plus the money saving is a real help. ideally in future, 1 or 2 days in the office a week.

These are adults knowingly being non compliant and it needs serious consequences introduced.

They should be arrested isolated and deliberately infected with a low metered dose and let out after two weeks.

Probably worth calling 119 and checking. Not sure that a contact of a contact should isolate unless the contact shows symptoms but either way the visitor and partner should probably get a test to be on the safe side and not be in work until they have the results

37 deaths - huge rise.

Cases up too to new record of 1414.

At a rather terrible 18% positive. Highest ever here too.

Strictly speaking they don't need to self isolate unless they develop symptoms.
The houshold should tell test and trace who is at risk due to visiting the property and test and trace may get in touch with the person.
Personally I think the vsitor should take personal responsibility and self isolate for 5 days from the date of the visit and get a test for day 6 and leave isolation if the result is -ve.
 
3 Weeks ago to 2 week ago to last week to today data:

Deaths: 3 v 16 v 14 v 37 today

Cases 752 v 946 v 962 v 1414 today.

Sadly no early sign of lockdown helping. This is a big increase on both numbers in the past week.

And a huge rise in positive tests to get 1414 cases from under 9000 tests.
