The NW is now the FOURTH worst region based on the case numbers per 100,000 population (a regional Pop Score in effect) - up to 12 Nov where the Gov data of cases goes up to (always 5 days behind to allow for using cases assigned to exact date not date of report).

Yorks and Humber is top with a Pop of 444 (falling slightly), then the NE at 423 (up 23% in week), then West Midlands 363 (up nearly 17% in week) and NW at 348 (down nearly 12% in week).

South West 190 -is up 15%, London 189 - up over 24%, South East 179 - is up over 34% and East 150 - up over 33%

As I said last night from the hospital data and regional case totals in the scoreboard the pandemic is moving and this is more evidence of that.

The NW - being the first and longest to have been in wave 2 - may yet be the first out of it.
Still in line for a Champions' League spot then?

No, I know, but in terms of giving it to millions based on the results of 170 people, that was my question around the confidence that that it representative. If they said they'd done challenge trials on 5/10,000 of those volunteers and had a 8:162 ratio that would come across as much more representative.

Eh? I’m guessing you’ve not read up on vaccine trials.

The 45,000 test base that received that vaccine is the second largest in history. They aren’t basing results off 170 people but off 45,000 people.

Fingers crossed. Saw Robert Peston yesterday claim that the Oxford vaccine will "only" have 70% efficacy. No idea what he's basing that on though.
He knows fuck all. Even the Oxford vaccine scientists have no idea at this present time.

The 282 England hospital deaths in detail:

17 Nov adds 43 = 43 after 1 day (Last wk 40 were added)

16 Nov adds 128 = 173 after 2 days (Last wk 164 was added = 203 after 2 days - note the fall)

15 Nov adds 43 = 238 after 3 days (Last wk 71 was added = 213)

14 Nov adds 21 = 221 after 4 days *(Last wk 42 was added = 235 - again note wk to wk fall)

13 Nov adds 21 = 225 after 5 days (Last wk 24 added = 209)

12 Nov adds 9 = 253, 11 Nov adds 6 = 227 , 10 Nov adds 4 = 254, 9 Nov adds 1 = 291

A few more ones were added back to September

291 is the highest daily total for any single day since wave 1 - but nothing in the 7 days behind it is threatening to overtake that number or get close to it. And the date when last we saw that number in a falling first wave - 1 May - has been unchanged now for a while.

This is the best sign yet that we might actually have peaked in wave 2.

Though if the cases take off further down south and lead to more deaths there then that might change.

For now things look fairly optimistic.

Think it depends slightly what you're looking at, the safety data is based on 45,000 or rather half of the 45.000 compared with the other half. The protection is rather more based on the 170 though that is not completely the case.

Some **** with 19 followers thinks it dangerous. Glad you posted it.

Trump thinks he's won the election and he's got millions of followers. Your point is? I saw something I found interesting in response to the vaccine news. I don't know either way so thought I'd ask the question to a few people who seem knowledgeable about this kinda stuff on here, but I'll make sure and check they have enough followers on twitter in future.

UK 4 nations deaths today are 388.

Last Wednesday they were 488

That fall of 100 week to week is another hopeful sign on what is usually the worst day of the week.

Last week when out of hospital English deaths were added (the other 3 nations include them in their totals cited) that 488 became 595 - the second highest in wave 2 behind yesterdays 598.

That rise - though - was made up of deaths from several past days because of the weekend lag in registering.

Currently the actual number of deaths that are registered as having occurred on 10 November - the date from which the 595 was reported - is in fact 365.
