Fucks knows, its all a bit double dutch, the advice they give out. I am just going to stay at home and nit take any chances.

Hope your daughter is ok, arthiritis is horrible. I get inflammation of my knees and elbows as a side effect of my Crohns. Thats bad enough as it is, it must be terrible to suffer from fully blown arthritis. These dieases really do ruin lives and because you can not seen them, no one realises how bad they, till they get one. Hope she is ok anyway fella.
Thanks for that, she has a rare form of AS, together with ME whatever that is which unfortunately gives her full disability.
Seemingly affecting all her joints but.thankfully not her lungs like CV does.
I only mentioned her drug treatment because as a cancer anti rejection drug it suppresses the immune system which helps CV patients who need ventilation.

I suppose it depends how big a load you get when becoming infected, if its small its likely to take longer, and if its big less time, but if true the case in France is likely to have been created in mid December at least, a long time before it was apparently in Europe, there weren't even that many reported cases in China at that point.

The one thing we don't really know, as not enough have been tested, is how long you can asymptomatic for, most of those tested have been ill with it, once ill and tested you can measure the time that you are ill, but difficult to measure someone who isn't ill.
Spot on - viral load counts!

I fear America is on the verge of something very bad indeed.

It is a nation that hasn't experienced a direct threat to its own shores or people for an eternity.

Those same people are now its biggest threat - countries within countries - an uneasy over-confidence that they can do it their way and to bugger with the consequences.

And when that doesn't work, a war always makes money and convenient dog whistles.

It's a joke such an amazing country gets to choose between Trump and Biden.

It is a time for leadership, we even have it in Boris.

I'd have been much more optimistic that America can muck in if it were Obama at the tiller.

I think there will be civil violence there within 18 months, on quite a wide scale. The economic model they have just does not work anymore and is creating a massive gap between the wealthy and poor.

I understand people want to have had it around christmas, cos that'd be great! It'd mean more would have had it... but I've still not seen any viable explanation why loads of people weren't dying around christmas then too? Why are the death tallies only what they are now? There's gonna have to be some undeniable evidence for many to take it seriously that it was around in the UK then, other than anecdotes about how everyone felt shite around flu season.
My so had a lot of the symptoms early January which we were assuming was too early, and probably it was. But saw this so it’s not impossible.

Probably a debate for the US/UK politics threads this discussion but to say we've had leadership with Boris is a joke. He didnt attend a Cobra meeting till March, was attending mass gatherings in the midst of the outbreak, and even shook hands with coronavirus patients ffs. Nobody in this country should look to him for leadership. If anything, do the complete opposite.

That would mean it was in France in early December. Which is entirely possible except none of the data appears to back this up.

Interesting information from Sir Patrick Vallence in his appearence before the Health Committee.
1. Britain's outbreak genetically ties back to half term holidays with people returning from Italy and to a lesser extent Spain.
2. The risk of catching Covid is the same for social distancing for being:
- Two metres apart for 1 minute; AND
- One metre apart for 6 SECONDS.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/coronavirus-risk-10-30-times-21975706

The second point means public transport can't be restarted without people wearing face masks and really when you go shopping you should wear one too.

The first point shows how laughable our policies at our airports have been and still are.

Update on point 2:
The risk of catching Covid is 30 times higher at 1 metre apart rather than 2 meters apart. For example the following risks are equivalent:
- Two metres apart for 1 minute; AND
- One metre apart for 6 SECONDS.

Public transport can't be restarted without people wearing face masks and really when you go shopping you should wear one too.

Aer Lingus Dublin to London, yesterday:

Just watched a news report on this which concluded with 'Aer Lingus are reviewing their policies'.

The fact that we have to rely on an airline to safeguard the public might help explain why we've got one of the worst death tolls in the world.

Lockdown continues in Scotland with no relaxation of restrictions. Baest estimate of R number in Scotland is 0.7 to 1 which is still too high to relax.

I'd be a great deal more optimistic if the UK had Obama rather than Johnson.
