If the lockdown is eased has everyone got a stock of masks , or did we all spend our money on shit roll ?
The US re-cycle them up to 20 times or so they claim. Not sue how they do it. Some sterilisation procedure.

I think there's going to be some space now to reassess. We are moving into a zone potentially between peaks and society has to decide how to approach this and learn the lessons of Phase I. Hopefully there is no Phase II but history suggests there will be.

There may now be space and resources to vastly improve the protection for the old and shieded population. Those in care homes must fee very scared and very isolated and probably very angry. It is the very worst aspect of this crisis.
Luckily I am not in a care home but despite current measures to protect certain age groups the majority of the deaths have occured there. The measures were a failure.

I have zero confidence that relaxing lockdown measures will assist the situation so must plan my future wellbeing accordingly.

There seems to be a determined effort to play down the risks of Covid 19 from right wing activists. Eight times as many people have died from
Covid 19 in Salford alone, compared to the number of people who died in the Manchester Arena bombing.

Salford seems to be a real hotspot - i know several who have been very bad with it now.

That's very true.

I am not sure if this BBC article heralds a new line of thought / propaganda to justify a new approach. "You should no longer be fearful, you should re-assess the real risk."

If we do this, then they need to build a ring of steel around the care homes and re-think how they are going to protect this group. And the 1.8 million shielded people at home. I think this group has been safe so far but their hearts will sink if they read this. They are not half way through their 12 weeks, they are only at the beginning....assuming this is a serious proposal. It may just be kite-flying.

to be fair you don’t need to be a medical expert to see the risk the virus has on the elderly . There should have been a real task force and focus around all Uk care homes to shield them a lot more . People going in and out all day untested is just a nightmare waiting to happen. Could have done a lot better here .
but at least they got a badge.

Infection to symptom onset 5 days, symptom onset to death 18 days. UK lockdown was 23rd but death rate started falling on 8th may. 16 days?????
It fell following school closures then rose again then fall again with lockdown according to your graph no?

230,000 deaths so far this year. No one even noticed the non covid 200,000 of them.
A bit disingenuous that when you consider than on average, there’d have been around 175,000 deaths by this stage of the year. So the increase is roughly 55,000.

Whilst we’re at it, I certainly noticed one non-covid death on February 9th.

So are we all expected to go back to work next week or is that in a few weeks?

seems way too soon in my opinion. Our numbers are still pretty bad

The outcome from this phase will be dictated by how strictly the populace follow the remaining rules of self distancing and hygiene backed by the new ttq processes. Both these elements will have to work well if we are to avoid a serious increase in reinfection. I truly wish I had more confidence in those that will be defining these rules. Lockdown too late and relax too early has an awful symmetry to it.

Think we now have 2 separate problems we know hospital deaths have fallen from 6/700s to about 3/400s. The other side care homes have now risen to about 300. Question is can these two things be treated separately can we lift some restrictions in general and and keep numbers falling in the community and at the same time bear down hard on care home deaths with tougher measures and shielding vulnerable groups.
Don’t know the answer but if they could be treated as two separate things it would be a way forward.
