I think human nature is to do something, and with social media and global coverage of events, that “something” can seem like an overreaction.

Of course, we won’t know what Coronavirus will have been until it’s blown over, but while we are undergoing its effects, national governments have to be seen to be doing...even when it is useless nonsense, such as here in the States.

The idea that Italy would lock down 25% of the country, not for sound medical reasons, but simply because it wants to be seen to be doing "something", is patently ridiculous.

No one is critcising people buying hygiene products and being prepared.

People are having a go at hoarders buying ridiculously stupid amounts of stuff leaving others who either cannot afford to do the same or haven't the capacity carry or store such left with none to buy in reasonable quantities.

Of the cases with outcomes in South Korea, 38% of people have died. Who knows what will happen to the currently active cases

There’s been 150 resolved cases of which 42 died. So probably not.

It is absolutely what causes the common cold to the flu which constantly mutates itself, hence why we have never found a cure for it and probably never will.

Others are SARS, MERS which where both forms of coronavirus.

It is absolutely not the virus that causes flu. That virus is called Influenzavirus and has different types (A,B,C) and seasonal strains such as H1N1, H3N2 and other H#N#. But I guess years of scientists working on it are wrong and you are right. Or you simply call "flu" whatever illness is similar to it in your eyes.

I'm concerned about the virus.

I'm more concerned about hysterical over reactions and society falling into chaos because of it. Our 'secure' way of life isn't that secure. That isn't me dismissing people's concerns about the virus, but the frenzy that is being allowed to build up here (on this forum and I expect all others) may well ultimately cause more deaths Indirectly than the virus itself.

I am getting prepared for the worst though. I'm taking my boys to the swamp today so they can see what a zombie apocalypse might look like!!

Scenes of people rushing to catch the last trains out of Lombardy, health system there will collapse I suspect and watch the bottom fall out of the markets on the open on Monday. Surely Serie A season has to e cancelled now?
