I doubt it will be that low.

Yeah me either. his logic was hoping that due to the large number of tests the Koreans have run that it was exposing the mild cases more and bringing the percentage down. but he did state is was only his hope and there was no proof bad that one number.

I had read somewhere ( maybe on here? ) it could be down to a younger population in Korea but who knows.

Was in Asda earlier getting some booze (oh and 84 packs of toilet roll) when this woman was talking to an older lady further down the aisle looking at the space where the sanitiser was supposed to be.
She said “I’m not worried about it at all, they say it only affects the old so why should I be bothered?”

She was about eighteen stone with an absolutely enormous belly.
I’m sure she’s a fit as a fiddle.
I'll ask the missus if she saw you looking at her.

I've heard the opinion that old people are at risk so it's sort of OK too many times now to believe that we will never recover from the selfish (Granted self preservation is somewhat genetic) attitudes we have installed into people now. I know that every young person doesn't think this way but there is enough of the "It'll thin the population out" speak for it to be a widely held comfort for those dodging the bullet.

Like you bud the thought of withholding treatment for certain people is terrifying.
Not caring about elders is obviously awful, but let's try to differentiate between egoistical cunts and standard medical procedures. Here's an interesting comments chain found below yesterday's translated Bergamo surgeon's post. The first comment I permalinked is from a Milan doctor replying to a question about priorities in ICU. It's interesting to see the different standard procedures for elders around the world.

Edit: well, I tried. The link preview function inevitably fucks up the link. Anyway for anybody interested in the actual full conversation (with Aussie, UK and US comments too) just click the link to the general post and then read the replies to the top comment.

I was actually hoping that was a scripted question so she could get shot down to prove the point.... but that maybe wishful thinking.
I just think she sums up why I’m so fearful about what will happen here.

He says he’s worked in this field for 20 years and this is the most frightening thing he’s come across. Worse than Ebola, worse than MERS, worse than SARS, and only really comparable to Spanish Flu in 1918 in terms of the combination of contagiousness and lethality.

If that doesn’t make people stay at home for several months unless absolutely essential, I don’t know what will. We are faced with an incredibly serious situation here and as I look around I feel like less than 5% actually realise it.

The government need to mobilise us, they need to convince us of what we need to do. Stop saying “it’s too premature to be thinking of doing .....” and fucking do something. Jesus wept, I can’t cope any more with the ignorance and complacency.

It's all about perception.

A guy i know thinks it would be a good think if this killed off thousands of pensioners as the social care costs would come down and the government could bring the retirement age back down to 65.

The daft fucker is 63 now.
He has a chance of dying that is 7 times more likely than if he was below 50.
He is a stupid fucker.

I think the government are more worried about the economy than this outbreak from the little I've seen.

Although Alcohol does kill the virus, I am not so sure washing your hands and bathing in it to compensate for the random absence of soap and sanitiser in the supermarkets is all that sensible and it seems like an awful waste of perfectly good booze.
I don’t intend to wash in it.
But if I’m going to go, I’m going to do it having drunk a good bottle of wine and a cognac.

It’ll also help pass the long boring days of isolation

I called 111 after showing signs of all symptoms. High temperature on forehead and chest, chest and rib pains, shortness of breath, very dry cough, coughing up fleghm.

I was told this doesn't warrant a test for coronavirus as I have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed case or travelled to high threat areas in the last 2 weeks.

I am working at a hospital currently and they said to walk into A&E in person and be checked for my chest pains for a potential heart attack. I'm a reasonably fit person in their mid 20s with no previous cardio problems. Something tells me the country is not prepared.

For obvious reasons I don't want to go waltzing into A&E in case I have a positive case.

I can't understand why our governments are dragging their feet with all this.
All mass gatherings should be banned immediately, they're just not being proactive.
I too am mystified.
