Other watch areas.

Blackburn - just 6 cases - down from 16 and 12 last 2 days. Pop score 1127.

Bradford - 24 cases - down from 43 and 26 last 2 days. Pop score 1063.

Leicester - 17 cases (lowest in some time) - down from 35 and 21 last 2 days. Pop score 1536.

All three places here following the same steady drop we saw in Greater Manchester.

Hopefully this is not just a blip but an ongoing trend. Coming days will show.

Only England hospital data updated - but this shows as of today 572 in hospital - down 8 on yestrday and 75 fewer than this time a week ago.

As for ventilators there are 67 English patients on them today compared with 69yesterday.

Week to week that is 7 more but that difference week to week was 13 more in the last set of data so is an improvement.

September will see six vaccines here in phase three trials,t he head of the task force says next year we will have one to use i f at least one is viable, things are moving fast on that front

it's just a massive shame we will have so many morons spreading false information about bill gates and microchips etc
gettin the world to take a vaccine is going to be a huge hurdle

But the more senisble element of the population are going to be more receptive of the vaccine. None of us can't really fix stupid (even if it is more beneficial to them)

Scotland 248 England 572 N Ireland 7 Wales 70

Are current numbers we have forin patients - though Wales is only up to Friday.

So that is 897 patients with Covid in the UK in hospital,

Again this is going down as it only fell below 1000 in the past week or so.

It was,the gov changed it to within 28 days of diagnosis two weeks ago, changed it to 60 days last week, after that is not counted, spinning figures if ever I have seen it,it clearly says that drs have to work backwards in the sequence of what lead to death, given what we know about the effects of covid on the body it really is a nonsense to take it off the figures
Yes within 28 days of positive test for death of any cause 28 day limit increased to 60 if death cert states covid as cause, secondary cause or contributory cause.
EDIT no time limit if on cert the 28 - 60 bit is a different measure.

Looking at the regions in England is very interesting - especially as it allows me to answer a question posed on here over the weekend about rumoura of rising ICU patients in the North West in recent days.

As I said the there WAS a jump in ventlator cases mid last week but these were showing signs of a fall before we lost data over the weekend.

The data in the post to follow shows - happily - these rumours likely referred to that scenario a week ago. Not right now.

South West have their first ventilator patient in ages. There were 17 in hospital end of last week. It rose to 21 but is back down at 19 today.

South East over last 3 days has patient numbers fall from 59 to 56. And ventilators stay at 9.

East was 56fell to 50 over weekend but is 53 today. Ventilator patients here rose by 1 from 7to 8.

London patient numbers HAVE risen over past few days from 89 to 97 and ventilator patients have risen from 15 to 19 over past 3 days.

North East and Yorks patient numbers fell from 100 to 97. But ventilator patients rose from 6to 7.

MIdlands patients also rose from 127 to 142 over past 3 days. But ventilator patients fell from 9 to 6.

Finally in the North West we had 147 people in hospital last Monday. These fell slowly during the past week to 127 by yesterday and today this stands at 108.

This is actually the LOWEST number of people in hospital with Covid in the North West since the data record begins on 20 March when 130 were in. That rose rapidly to 2890 at the peak in mid April. Andhas fallen since.

On 17 May it was 1588 on 17 June it was 849. On 17 July it was 253. The records never show a day when we had less than 100 in NW hospitals with Covid but as you can see it is by no means impossible that might happen tomorrow.

As for those on icu ventilators in the NW there were 18 last Monday. it rose to 23 mid last week but has fallen since and today sits at 17.

So I am happy to say there is no evidence here of the cases in the NW resulting in hospital numbers going up in the past 3 days.

For now at least.
