Week to week if we take 630 (approx) as hospital patients v 42 known ventilator patients in UK.

There were seven days ago 797 patients v 68 on ventilators in the UK.

So a big drop nationally especially in ventilator patients in England.

Even week to week the NW has seen patients stay exactly the same week to week at 96 and a fall in ventilators from 15 to 12.

It is just that these falls have reversed in recent days (as they did in Scotland last week) and as we started showing the big case numbers here.

So the question is will that be a blip we will overcome in coming days and rejoin the rest of the UK in a steady fall?

Or are we showing what will happen in the rest of the UK in coming days?

Lets hope it is the former.

We are behind most in cases per 100k of the population now. Spain is by far the worst, remember when people were saying our lockdown wasn't harsh enough and we should have been more like Spain, they worked out well for them.

Of course we are behind,the schools and other education arent back,the teachers and parents are yet to get back to work yet, we have lots of the population working from home

When you say "Swimming against the tide" what you really mean is ignoring the overwhelming majority of scientists and experts because it is not what you want to be true.

Trouble is all the "scientist and experts" have been saying different things since more or less the very start.

Like I said every single one of us is guilty of believing what we want to believe.

You do know Spain's school are shut as well don't you? Spain and France who locked down early and hard are now having a bad time. Italy locked down hard but late and we did a softer later lockdown, both nations have it under control. Might just be a coincidence but the figures speak for themselves.

When we say having a bad time how is that quantified?, cases yes but deaths , hospital cases dont seem at the level that would cause a mass lock down of society. Would be good to see numbers of what people are going to hospitals with and how many diseases are higher than covid . Currently feels like a huge over reaction which is a good thing as wouldnt want huge numbers of deaths just to prove how serious it is .

If you mean wythenshawe as in the hospital let me tell you some facts

The hospital was split half between covid wards and half normal

In May the covid part was rammed. I know that 2 or 3 a week were dying of covid off a ward of 14

Flu doesn't do this and this was due to lockdown that we got a grip of it

May i suggest you shut the fuck up as its clear you haven't been affected or indirectly affected by this virus your views are incredibly offensive to read and is quite frankly paying a disservice to the warriors that fought so hard to bring covid under control

Quite happy for you to meet my mrs so she can tell you exactly what went on back then and how dangerous this virus is but I'm guessing you won't even entertain the idea as you're quite clearly a nutjob who shouldn't be on this forum

Huge contrast on this thread.

On the one hand, hugely informative, very useful facts and stats.

But interspersed with the ravings of an idiot whose posts contain every conspiracy theorist buzzword and cliche around.

A sad reflection of the benefits and huge dangers of the internet.

The excellent information would have been extremely difficult to research and find for anyone 30 years ago.

But 30 years ago the crank would have been either the local crazy or, more likely, would not have had the intelligence or means to search out the torrent of conspiracy fuel that comes to him daily via the internet. And certainly wouldn't have been in touch with small communities of the like minded supporting and reinforcing conspiracies and tales of persecution.

Just reading about how all this hand sanitiser use could potentially lead to new deadly superbugs affecting us worse because our bodies are not having to fight stuff off as much thus lowering our immune response. I know it's if's and but's but it does make you wonder as it is plausable. We are potentially protecting ourselves to a dangerous level. Masks etc for long periods of time. Mad.
