This thread is turning into a mess unfortunately. Appreciate Healdplace's numerical updates, but other than that there is absolutely no added value in it anymore. The people who were posting trial and treatment updates have all disappeared. All that's left is just bickering and conspiracy nonsense.

What a load of Bollocks.
What are you on about?
2 or 3 a week dying is not a Pandemic...is it?
A virus is invisible.
A Pandemic is not.

Sorry but his comment makes no sense.

A Pandemic is a Pandemic. a virus or disease that has hit every county on the planet and has the potential to infect everyone.

locally, even at country level its an Epidemic, which right now we as a country are doing very well controlling.

But talking as a pandemic, a global event. then your looking at about 40,000/50,000 deaths a week right now.

You keep attacking me, why? Listen to the doctors stood on Capitol hill with no agenda other than to save peoples lives!

Insult my intelligence, when I will rip you to shreds in any form. panic at the disco, when you walk in!

The doctors on Capitol hill, No Agenda? Come off it. The Tea Party scoured the whole of the states to find ( and pay ) some doctors to talk to support Trump's hydroxychloroquine claims.

The head Dr that spoke was a crackpot of the highest order. A woman on record ( its on her own youtube channel ) stating that gynecological issues were not medical problems. that they were caused by inpure women having sex dreams that allowed evil demon spirits into there dreams to have sex with them and to that caused those issues and the only real cure for them is prayer.

You do know Spain's school are shut as well don't you? Spain and France who locked down early and hard are now having a bad time. Italy locked down hard but late and we did a softer later lockdown, both nations have it under control. Might just be a coincidence but the figures speak for themselves.

Spain is well into a second wave, the UK has just ended their first.

Yep you've just pretty much said what I have been saying. At the moment we have it under control and no signs of a second wave, unlike countries who locked down harder and not as many people caught it as a result. Was always going to be about the long game. Interesting that Spain have been getting over 3k cases a day for over a month yet the deaths of staying low. One to keep an eye on, a professor was on TV this morning and he was talking about viral load which has been mentioned many times and whether that is a factor in not as many falling ill.

The N Ireland data for yesterday now available.

There were 58 cases (about 0.75% of tests done). The rolling weekly average is at 461. About 100 up on a week ago.

In hospital there are 17 (as of two days ago) and there were as many as 25 at one point last week but that number fell to 17 over more recent days. There are however still 2 on icu ventilators.

So only Wales patients to add as this is around what I factored in last night when trying to work out the real UK hospital patients now in with Covid. And barring an unexpected big rise over the weekend in Wales that number of 620 or so will be right as of yesterday.

Therefore - despite everything and local blips (notably in the heavily impacted NW and Scotland) - hospital numbers have carried on falling by about 100 in the past week to the lowest they have been since records of Covid patients started. And even in the NW we were still sub 100 and at the same number as we were a week ago. So ups and downs but no overall increase. And in Scotland there is not a significant rise - though the rise in ICU patients in both the NW and Scotland needs watching.

The latest data I could find for Wales was just 41 in hospital with Covid. So pretty much as calculated last night.

27 of those 41 are in the Betsi Cadwalladr health area (basically North Wales holiday coast area and hinterland). I could not see any other health board in Wales that even has double figures in with Covid.

If you recall there was a big spate of deaths in Wales in July/Aug and nearly all of them were in that same area - where there is a high OAP retirement population, of course. And Summer visitors who are younger and likely had the virus without knowing it as they visited Rhyl or Prestatyn in the sun for the day or weekend.

That both warns about what can happen in the rest of the UK and why shielding of vulnerable may be the main reason deaths have fallen as cases rise in the far less vulnerable.

The good news is though that the Betsi Cadwalladr area had the lowest intake of new patients last week (in single figures). And the Wales death numbers have all but vanished in the past week or two.
