Of today's 154 Scottish infections,
4 are in people over the age of 65.
7 in kids aged 0-4,
9 aged 5-14,
24 aged 15-19
and the rest, 110 making up the huge majority of new cases are all aged 20-64.
 
The BBC 10 o'clock news had no mention of the huge rise in hospital patients and also of ventilator bed occupancy in England hospitals. So the mention presumably referred to by the poster earlier was simply the request to stop the lockdown easing in Bolton and Trafford - which was commented upon. Incredibly given the numbers over past days the government still have not agreed to do this and at present Bolton's restrictions still end tomorrow.

How can anyone see those Bolton figures and not simply defer until the next review on Friday and ease it next Wednesday IF it goes down over coming days. It has one of the highest rates in the UK right now and you have to be incredibly stubborn to still insist Bolton should be ending all restrictions tomorrow without further evidence to the contrary.

I am not surprised the media have not done the work to find the data on hospital beds and ICUs as it requires time and so they go off what is sppon fed to them without having to dig or do some sums. Its why so much crap gets written about City. Its easy to follow the crib sheet. To find the truth behind it you need both a desire to get facts right and a passion for the truth mattering more than what someone tells you is the truth.

I have worked in the media and written stuff for radio, TV and printed media. You need to be interested in what you are researching to do a good job. Thats why I stopped trusting what I was reading on the pandemic and - having the time these days and the interest to find out for myself given I have self isolated for 6 months now - just decided to go to source not the data spoonfed via other sources first.

Sadly very few working journalists will have the time or the desire to do that.
 
Incidentally on the latest map of local cases (to 28 Aug) Eccles has had a big rise - 20 cases in the week to then - same as the long standing hot spot of Werneth in Oldham. So Eccles has driven the rise in Salford cases lately. Though these were much lower today.

Brightmet and Darcey Lever (with 16) was one of the first places in Bolton that saw case numbers rise but it is the next few days when this map will reveal where the big numbers here are focused as it runs 3 days behind the numbers in the scoreboard I compile daily.

In Manchester Gorton and Levenshulme had the most cases between them - 20 across this border. That infamous garden party in Gorton maybe a factor. Though Audenshawe had the most in one ward at 13.

Aren't you the prick who told someone on here suffering from cancer that you couldn't believe he was putting "poison" into his body referring to his chemotherapy?

Sounds positive. I am beginning to think that if the world unites then we will be able to start living our lives more normally within the next 12 months.
