COVID-19 — Coronavirus

its a new report published today based on an event in Jan.

I realise it's a new report but my point was there must have been plenty of evidence floating around about masks well before the WHO decided the best course of action. Also it makes SAGE look a little slow on the uptake as well.

This article (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8094933/How-one-man-spread-coronavirus-NINE-people-bus.html) is from March but a different infected person. Interestingly those people wearing masks weren't infected. Government, councils, shops etc should have lessons for how to wear a mask correctly. For the avoidance of doubt a mask should cover both the mouth and nose, not one or the other and it definitely isn't a chin covering. Amazing how difficult some people find it to wear one correctly.

I see plenty with them either inside out or upside down, especially noticeable with the surgical ones where the nose pinching bit is under their chin. Seen so many people walking round with mouth covered and not their nose too

I even saw one the other week actually who had cut a hole in the mouth bit

GM scoreboard is OK news with many places down and in single figures and Stockport not having the best day today by recent standards. Though nothing terrible I should add.

The usual three suspects add the big bulk of what is by recent days a really good score of 116. Down on the 138 this day last week. And at 58% under 60% of the NW total too for a change.

Its actually the lowest Tuesday total in the restrictions if that means anything and the lowest altogether in over a week.

GM scoreboard:

Bolton 32 (down from 40) but contributing just under 30% of the entire GM total today it would be ridiculous not to delay the easing of restrictions. 427 in month. 198 past week. 72 over 2 days (was 108). So at least trending down. Pop score 845.

Bury 6 (down from 7). 247 in month. 59 past week. 13 over 2 days (was 22)., Pop score 839.

Manchester 26 (down from 28). 1013 in month. 240 past week. 54 over 2 days (was 82). Better here. Pop score 785.

Oldham 16 (down from 22). 786 in month. 152 past week. 38 over 2 days (was 52). Pop score 1242. Though numbers were lower today it still overtook Blackburn to become second worst town in UK.

Rochdale 9 (up from 7) 395 in month. 116 past week. 16 over 2 days (was 32). Better few days here. Pop score 1023.

Salford 2 (down from 16 - big drop to be top on this measure in GM today and reined in Stockport a bit). 352 in month. 100 past week. 18 over 2 days (was 45 - big drop here). Pop score 708 - lowest rise of the day in GM.

Stockport 7 (up from 5 - to highest number in 11 days - though still maintains the now 16 day run of single figure numbers). 227 in month. 32 past week (still best in GM). 12 over 2 days (was 6 - highest 2 day total in over 2 weeks so a bit of a warning as to how things can quickly change anywhere). Pop score 678. Still top but lost a bit of ground to others today.

Tameside 6 (down from 21 - huge fall after recent high numbers). 318 in month. 91 past week. 27 over 2 days (was 34). Pop score 864.

Trafford 6 (down from 11 - better here too). 264 in month. 89 past week. 17 over 2 days (was 34). Pop score 720.

Wigan 6 (down from 7). 151 in month (best in GM). 41 past week. 13 over 2 days (was 18). Pop score 710. Made up a little ground on Stockport though some way back still.

Too be fair Kaz she may have been a moaning cow but this winter could be a problem as some of us simply cannot stand outside in cold weather. It has certainly crossed my mind. Infact with much of the stuff I do in the summer having not happened my fitness is atrocious and I am bricking it about what kind of state I will be in next spring.

Other watch locations:

Blackburn & Darwen 7 (down from 10 to best recent score and why Oldham overtook it as second worst in UK). Pop score 1239.

Bradford 36 (down from 47 and best in a week), Pop score 1168.

Leicester 10 (down from 11 and running now at pre lockdown numbers). Pop score 1619. Still worst in UK but not going up more daily now than many boroughs in GM. Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham and Rochdale all scored worse on this comparative per population rating than Leicester did today.

Still cannot access data for Wales beyond 28 Aug. But I do know there were 41 in that day and 83 patients were admitted that day. Indeed the numbers were rising over 3 days and between 49 and 83 per day went in. But numbers seem to have stopped being published around last Friday.

It looks like an upward trend here and we know it was up from 17 to 18 in N Ireland today and Scotland from 258 to 264 in last 24 hours.

Sadly England has gone up even more - from 280 Saturday to 290 Sunday to 305 yesterday and now today 472 in England hospitals today. That 167 in one day is the biggest rise in ages.

This is a serious reversal of the downward trends lately and the first time I have seen all 4 nations rusing at the same time.

So this means there are 748 in hospital we know of plus however many are now in from Wales (minumum 41) - so by the looks of it over 800.

They may come down again but right now this is starting to look a little disconcerting.
