Sadly the news is just as bad with ventilator patients. These have shot up over the same few days too.

The regional hospital numbers here make a very grim reading

Too be fair Kaz she may have been a moaning cow but this winter could be a problem as some of us simply cannot stand outside in cold weather. It has certainly crossed my mind. Infact with much of the stuff I do in the summer having not happened my fitness is atrocious and I am bricking it about what kind of state I will be in next spring.
Get anything important done now so if there is a second wave you can not go out,the bank was taking this very seriously, the supermarkets dont make you stand outside ,she just didnt want to stand outside or wear a mask , she was moaning about having rules to stick to, clearly a non believer,if i can wear a mask and wait in line then so could she, the moaning cow

I finished the prednisolone today,it has been hard to keep my peak flow up this last week, panting a bit again bringing in shopping and wearing a mask, fingers crossed i stay better now and dont slip back ,i think i will have to have inhaled steroids to go with the ventolin, wembley was the last time i could sing and shout all day with my perfect lungs, looking like i wont be able to do it again, the last six months has been very dark for me, i thought i had all the bad health i was going to get but now this,it has pushed me to my limit

Bluemoon has kept me going more than you will ever know, thank you

East of England patients in up from 20 to 28 and Vent up from 1 to 3

South East patients in DOWN from 35 to 33 and Vent up from 3 to 4.

South West patients in up from 5 to 13 and Vent up from 1 to 2

London patients in up from 46 to 82 and Vent up from 8 to 14

Midlands patients in up from 65 to 121 and Vent up from 5 to 10

Yorkshire patients in up from 38 to 78 and Vent up from 3 to 9

And North West

Patients in up from 96 to 117 and Vent up from 12 to 17.

So patients in one day from 305 to 472 and patients on ventilators up from 33 to 59.

Unless the Gov website has gone rogue or there was some mix up with data somewhere - which I would not be utterly amazed to hear given the dire performance of this website - this is terrible news. But it matches what we know has been occurring in Scotland from the very transparent reporting there versus here.

Should this not be big news on the media today?

Why would anyone want to cover this up?

And if there is an explanation for what looks a serious rise in both these measures that are probably far more important than daily case numbers - then tell us for goodness sake.

High numbers were reported on the 6 pm BBC news. Possibly released a bit close to broadcast for a lot of detail?

Not a peep on ITV. Just about the case numbers in Bolton etc. But will watch later.

My point is there should be government statements and press conferences for days like this. To talk to us. Explain what is happening and if we should worry and what we should do about it.

Because this change in the hospital data is, as we know in here. more significant than testing or case numbers as it is the passageway from control to a looming second wave and if that is coming then we need guidance from our leaders.

It may be just a glitch and many of these patients might be released over coming days but it is for now a major shift in things and it is for moments like this that those press conferences were made.

I think you are referring to this report - from January and again before mask wearing was compulsory. Seems odd that it took the WHO so long to advise about masks
Arrogance on behalf of the western based WHO, mixed in with a tidge of racism. 4/5 more deaths in Western Europe than there should have been because of it.
We may not have needed to lock down if we had followed the far east.
