Today is a very dark day for Greater Manchester. Multiple records set here. Not one of the ten boroughs in single figures for the first time ever. Only 3 under 20! You can probably guess the three with (comparatively) good days quite easily.

Also the first time one borough has had over 100 cases on its own in a single day.

And many of the boroughs have seen record rises in their Pop score. One actually increased by 36 in one day which is probably a UK record.

No way to hide what these numbers are. Disastrous and full lock down must be back in consideration if this goes on.

I likely do not have to even say this - but by a mile a record total for GM far above even the second worst.

From 162 yesterday to 395!

So that is 395 out of the 706 cases in the North West from GM. Back over 60% and no question where the UK numbers are largely being driven from....though with multiple places elsewhere starting to show spikes GM will not be alone in restrictions for long.

This increase was inevitable with so much loosening of restrictions and school returns but I suspect the speed with which it has accelerated has taken people by surprise.

GM scoreboard:

Bolton 105 - up from 27. By a mile the worst yet. And the health Minister had to be forced into not letting them out of restrictions just 4 days ago when this has been going on for about 10 days now. 625 in a month. (By miles a record here). 338 past week (a GM record by miles). 132 over 2 days (!!) was 93). Pop score 937 - up 36 from 901 in a day.

Bury 31 - up from 9 to new record for here too. Bury used to vie with Wigan for lowest monthly total just two months back. Now it is 277 in month. 89 past week. 40 over 2 days (new record here - was 26). Pop score up 16 to 878.

Manchester 71 - up from 37 to new high during restrictions. 1085 in month (new GM record). 264 past week. 108 over 2 days (was 86). Pop score up 13 to 826.

Oldham 24 - up from 16, but by its standards OK as it has been worse than this several times in past 2 or 3 weeks. 732 in month. 140 past week (200 less than Bolton for a town considered worst in northern England shows why Bolton was such a glaring problem that government underestimated). 40 over2 days (was 25). Pop score only up by 10 to 1285 (worst in GM but no longer in North as Blackburn had a worse day and overtook it again).

Rochdale 42 - up from 10 to this towns worst score in a day. 435 in month. 122 past week (closest it has been to Oldham in week in the period of restrictions). 52 over 2 days (was 30). Pop score up 9 to 1032- its biggest ever rise.

Salford 46 - up from 20 and smashing its record set 2 days ago already. 445 in month. 153 past week (new record). 66 over 2 days (was 63). Pop score for town that was top at start of the recent restrictions up a record 18 to 761 and in 18 days has gone from being 8 better than Stockport as top in GM to now 66 behind that town.

Stockport 17 - up from 8 and highest in over a month in one day. But oddly given the other numbers not as bad as it might otherwise be seen. 218 in month. So wont be catching that record by looks of it. 61 past week (highest in a good while). 25 over 2 days (was 18). This number has also started to rise quite markedly. Stockport is on the brink of tipping over the edge. Would not take much. Pop score up by 6 - most in weeks but second lowest jump in GM today. At 695 now though so could leave GM with no borough in the 600 club tomorrow if this is repeated.

Tameside 28 - up from 12 to equal worst in past month. 353 in month. 116 past week. 40 over 2 days (was 36). Smashed into the 900 club by an increase of 12 to 903.

Trafford 16 - up from 9. Second lowest daily number in GM. 273 in month. 66 past week (may take lowest weekly total from Stockport tomorrow). 25 over 2 days (was 16). But higher population means it lost ground on chasing Stockport in top pop score by going up 7 to 741.

Wigan 15 - up from 14. Three double digits on the trot here which is a rarity for this town - not happened over the 4/5 weeks of restrictions and why it was first to be released. 184 in month. Gained on Stockport in fight to keep this top score in GM. 71 past week (could catch Stockport in this race tomorrow as its close). 29 over 2 days (was 31). Pop score up just 4 (lowest rise in GM) to 728. Cutting gap to Stockport to 33.

Other watchlist towns:

Blackburn 22 - up from 2. Enough to raise its pop score over Oldham to 1287.

Bradford 74 - more than doubled from 33 and worst in some weeks. Pop score now 1219.

Leicester 36 - up from 26. Pop score 1653. Worst in UK by some distance, Nearly 1000 worse than Stockport.

Many of which would still be here if treatment hadn't been stopped due to covid.
Probably be bigger numbers to be fair. That was the number dying every day pre Covid. Still, let’s keep worrying about some 22 year old catching a cold he doesn’t even know he’s got......

Sadly it is worse than even I feared.

2 all settings deaths and 2988 - you read it right - new cases.

The media will be in doom and gloom overload.
Rightly so,highest number since May ,the young need telling to behave and stop spreading it,as I keep saying ,we are not even in winter yet

Tell them as much as you like though the one that will already do behave within reason. The ones that dont’t won’t.

That is such an easy thing to say,do you have any numbers of cases to back That up ?

Comparing it to cancer in any way is a nonsense, this is an infectious disease that nobody in the world had immunity to ,you might not like lockdown but it was the responsible thing to do and all but one country have done it,it is a pandemic

The stupid handling of coming out of lockdown is a whole other matter and we would agree with most of it I would wager

With the vit d trial, small but significant ,good info to have , i have argued that experts say everyone in the UK should take it,we are just not good at producing it
