I wondered where you were, sorry you have it so tough, must be a real worry for you and the family
I am very surprised to hear your government are being so extreme , not so much on lockdown but the clamping down of posts on social media etc , that is surely leaving them open to legal action ?
The lock down , the curfew and the lack of commonsense in opening up the businesses many of whom have had no clients for 7 months is pure ideology especially seeing many of those are located in areas where there has been no covid spread at all.
This virus affects the vulnerable , the elderly and those individuals with comorbidities and they haven't been protected enough.
In Melbourne 99 per cent of the spread came from a botched hotel quarantining arrangement largely comprised returned overseas travellers.
A total disaster that never should have occurred and the protests from a City that rarely engages in such activity is on the rise for the removal of basic freedoms.
The pandemic has highlighted the lack of need for State Governments and many states have locked their borders which is sheer lunacy.
The number of deaths from suicide , lack of early diagnosis of other diseases etc because of the public response will far outweigh the risk posed this virus to community health.
The economic and social fall out will take many years if not generations to recover.
The science and the vast majority of individuals with experience in handling epidemiology know that harsh lockdowns have far more risk that reward associated with them.
The virus will eventually spread through all communities no matter how you attempt to " reduce its spread " and effects people with different immune systems differently.
As for the legal ramifications many will attempt class actions against a bankrupt government who will appeal to the High Court under the guise that they had a legal right under the Constitution to take the action they did.
The people of Melbourne have had enough so expect many a street protest that become violent to come unless the State Government does what it should have from the outset and that is protect the elderly and vulnerable and the health workers as much as is possible and let the rest of the community get on with their lives.
