All settings deaths 21. This shows how deaths are rising as a week ago over 20 was an anomaly. Now it is getting the norm.

Though I agree we are nowhere near 1000 deaths a day and I do not expect we ever will again for many reasons discussed in here.

It will be a question of what number is 'acceptable''. Though it will take a lower one to re-shield the vulnerable I expect.

Cases down a bit too at 3395 today.

None, more than likely they'll go back to peoples houses and drink more, so it's good for off sales too ;-)

If it's bad enough that people can't mix households, then sorry but pubs should be closed, as you can't help but mix households there. I'd even suggest restaurants should be only takeaway too, but we have to have an economy of some sort, and as you can still sit in an office, supposedly covid safe, but who's checked ?

Nobody has checked mine, and it's certainly not covid safe, it's exactly as it was in March, apart from ony 1 person is allowed in the small kitchen area at once, luckily I've only been in it 4 times so far, and it's nearly a month before I have to do so again.

An economy of some sort?
No... we need as strong an economy as is possible.

Aye, and that's crap, but shouting down every poster who's opinion differs slightly to yours essentially makes it impossible for anyone to discuss things properly on this thread. Maybe consider other people's viewpoints and the possible value in them.

The regional scoreboard down mostly with lower case numbers and a widening UK spread of the cases.

London - though - up slightly to 247 (just 4 more than yesterday and the last six numbers here have been in the 200s with the highest 311.

Midlands - down to 339 (from 428).

Yorkshire down to 402 (from 511).

North West - happily - below 1000 - but otherwise the second highest ever at 932 (but still a pretty hefty drop from 1290).

Nonetheless all but double all the rest which is not just a size of population thing as the regional pop scores show.

The NW is miles above the rest at 876 - that is almost identical to Tameside in the GM for comparison and they are in a mess.

London is just 493, the South West 286 and nowhere outside the north and midlands is above 500 and as you can see that makes all those regions around 50% better than even the lowest in Greater Manchester (currently Stockport).

Yorkshire at 757 is the closest to the NW but way behind (and that is about the same as Stockport so better than every other one of the 9 GM boroughs).

The other areas even in the north and Midlands are also all better than every one of the GM boroughs. The closest being the North East at 720. And they are just entering restrictions.

West and East Midlands pop scores are 601 and 609 respectively - far ahead of anywhere in GM.

Of course, rural counties are going to have lower pop scores and urban areas higher. So it was always going to slit this way but London is doing better than you might expect. Perhaps the true anomaly here.

Interesting that London, per capita, has consistently had pretty much less hospitality deaths than most other areas in the last three months or so. Especially when you think of population density and ethnic profile.

I think when I last looked, there had not been more than two hospital deaths (day of death) apart from a handful of days in June.

Of course they are, but if it's justified bad enough that households can't meet, then pubs etc should surely be shut, as people will come into close contact, I'm not talking nationwide, I'm talking in local lockdowns.
