COVID-19 — Coronavirus

North West hospital patient numbers back to the highest point since 11 July today.

Up again from 287 to 309 in 24 hours.

7 days ago it was 174. 14 days ago 124.

Thing is we have no idea if they're shutting classes because of covid, or because jonny or sally have a minor cold, 12 months ago there could have been just as many "unwell", and classes would have carried on as normal, it's another unknown amongst many.

add to that they will have weaker immune systems as they have not been mingling in the normal way.

it would be weird if they went back and did not all get sore throats and coughs and colds which is Absolutely normal.

NW ventilator patients also up again 3 in 24 hours from 29 to 32. It was last at 32 on 5 July.

And that is a rise from 13 to 32 in the past 7 days just in the NW.

You cannot spin that any way but a serious concern.

But still the media seem to be silent on this. Why?

Tolmie has media contacts. Maybe he can ask them. As they surely see why such a big rise in ventilated patients is key to where this pandemic is heading

I recall pretty much every lab in the country volunteered to do testing ,the labs and staff were there , the gov rejected lots of them, if they haven't then they need to revisit that , better have all hands to the pump even if they are small labs, contracting out , to the benefit of some in and around gov , has led to the system back log as well as what the public do, most of this is common sense is it not ? They have cut a ton of red tape to get things done so look at all avenues, it is not a conspiracy is incompetence and they blame everyone but take responsibility, as I have said many times, we had a time advantage that we wasted, it is all very frustrating
Whilst I agree with that, the stats I posted are true, 5th most tests in the world, and 1st in per million population above 10,000,000. Some of it is incompetence, some of it just unfortunate.

As @The Light Was Yellow Sir says above, messaging, 2 weeks ago "anyone who wants test can have one", now overwhelmed, that is incompetence, and I doubt it came from the scientists, just a flippant "minister" comment, and there is the messaging issue. People are almost certainly seeking tests now when they don't need to, like for every unwell kid in school, closing classes unnecessarily.

The NW is the region with both the most in hospital and on ventilators. Most are rising too but no other region even has 200 let alone 300 + in hospital as the NW does. So a third of the patients with Covid in hospital in England are in the NW and just under a third of the ventilator patients. The deaths will sadly follow the same pattern.

Put it this way, if things are closing in the 3rd week of September are they really going to be opening in the dead of winter??

We are in for a long haul......

the clowns are fools.

they have been paying us to go out and about and socialise and go to pubs and restaurants on RIshi in august and saying what a success it has been

Then come September they are saying everyone is not social distancing , cases are rising and young people have been having too much fun and you all need locking down again.

Madness that in hindsight wasn't it. Wouldn't mind it wasn't even take out to help out you had to eat in!

At least we all got a good run out in Spain.

Yup....

Who could have predicted that things would kick off again as things started to cool down......

As I posted yesterday it's the messaging that is poor, and it's not being hammered home enough to make people think. I've been at home all day today, with the TV on in the background, there's been one UK government message on, and that wasn't directed at testing, the media are no better, they've not once mentioned the rise in numbers being hospitalised or on ICU, luckily I know, and I know where to look, but 95% of this country won't, so they don't know about it yet, when deaths become a significantly rising number, the media will immediately be "outraged" nothing was done.
They’re waiting for the figures to be ‘sensational’ few hundred hospitalised or a 100 dead or so doesn’t sound as scary as 3-4000 tested positive, once the deaths go up they’ll be screaming from the rooftops and that woman Kay Burley will be telling us all how she’s devastated by it.
