Infected, but how badly is the real question.

You might get very mild symptoms so can carry on or you may become very ill

This is what we need to know

Can only use the known stats from known cases.

From a Dr Campbell video the other day.

20% wont even know they have it.
60% will range from very mild to bed ridden for a couple of weeks
15% will need some medical intervention
5% will need critical care and may die.

Genuine question, why do people think the UK is so far behind the likes of France, Germany and Spain in terms of positives? Obviously we're an island, but we're not limiting travel and our preventative measures are pretty lax compared to most.

Do we think its a lack of testing?

No its pure stupidity/greed on the part of those who are tasked with protecting the nation.

I'd still take the NHS over a backward village in Europe, and I'm not a huge fan of the NHS. Mainly because they are completely underfunded and stretched to their limits, and that's without this current endemic.
I understand that 'feeling' but I am not sure it is as valid as you may think

Certainly knowing a lot of people that have had to depend on the Cypriot health service the view is that it is every bit as good as the NHS - and far-less crowded

That said - it's service and those of other 'smaller countries' will not have the specialist skills and capacity of those of larger/rich countries - but I am suspecting the chances of avoiding the infection are far better

Whats the death rate? 2%? higher in italy i think. If you take 60% of the poplation (80 million people) getting it and 2% death rate, thats 1 million people dead in Germany alone. Scary numbers if thats true.

Of course this is vitally important. The stats so far would imply 80% needing no treatment - Lemsip etc only. 15% needing hospitalisation of some kind - e.g oxygen and 5% needing intensive care.

Now of course these stats are terrifying, because no health service could cope with this. The *hope* is that either the whole thing is going to die down naturally as the summer months come, and/or that the early terrible stats will calm down - with a smaller percentage of people needing treatment as time goes by.

And of course, we MUST do everything we can to stop the infection spreading that far and that fast, in case these hopes prove unfounded. Because if the current death rates and serious condition rates continue, we are all in deep shit. Italy's health care system is completely swamped already and we have only just begun.

I just hope it won't get too far here, I don't think our health system is up to the job. I doubt we have anywhere near number of respirators and stuff needed for mass infection.

But they decided to act heavily since yesterday. China/Korea/Italy/Japan banned, Germany/France/Spain obligatory self-isolation, hospital visits banned and school cancelled for 15-21 days. We have 7 cases so far.

We are supposed to be flying out to Tivat on April 19th the plan was to have 5/6 days in Montenegro, same in Bosnia, then off to Split to fly back 7th of May.

I suspect we will not be allowed in by that time, we have another trip to Zadar end of May so if we do get over I am thinking bollocks to it cheap airbnb somewhere rural and stay there until we have to come back in June and give the flight back from Split in MAy a miss.
