There is not a drug that I can think of that does not have one unwanted, negative side effect associated with it. Frequently death - like beer, paracetamol, aspirin, etc.
AI software is used in most areas of life these days. When processing large amounts of data, it's now normal to use AI/Machine Learning to try to find every ounce of useful information, every significant pattern, that it contains. There's more AI involved in processing the data created by your google searches, posts, emails, and every other tiny little thing you do on the web, building the unique profile that identifies you on the web and tells advertisers and others how to treat you, than any mortal can reasonably comprehend.
Fun fact, they already use AI and big data to mine social media sites, in order to predict and measure outbreaks of disease. Like, they may get a pretty big clue where a bunch of people catch something, if they all routinely go to the same nightclub on the same night.
